[The Sleepover]

AUTUMN'S POV

Live people ignore the strange and unusual. ' I, myself, am strange and unusual.

I reach into the popcorn bowl, crashing my hand with Kai's. He snaps his eyes over to gaze into my own before taking hold of my hand and shoving it into the bowl. Taken back, I arched my brow while he turned to face the movie like nothing.

Kai was holding my hand inside the popcorn bowl, and I swear my heart was beating out of my chest. Jo didn't even notice; she was too focused on the movie, leaning against the edge of the couch. Meanwhile, Kai and I sat in the middle of the couch, very close to one another, with the popcorn bowl in between us, being the only thing that's separating our thighs from making contact.

But I decided to ignore whatever the hell Kai was doing and paid attention to the movie being showcased in front of us, me being a big fan of 'beetlejuice' and all.

After a few minutes had gone by, Kai's grip on my hand had increased, making me flinch and flicker my eyes over to his blue ones, glaring in hopes he would stop but didn't. Kai narrowed his eyes, looking into my green ones. The stare caused me to swallow hard and tilt my head to the side in confusion.

And the atmosphere is making this scarier than it actually is.

The living room lights are turned off, making the tv the only light available to us. I glanced over to Jo, who was smiling at the tv, before turning back to Kai and whispering, "What the hell are you doing?" His eyes lit up before releasing my hand and whispering back, "Holding your hand, duh." Kai said as if it was apparent enough. He sat back, propping his feet on top of the coffee table.

Rolling my eyes, I grab a handful of popcorn and shove it in my mouth, "I get that, but why?" I inspect Kai to figure out what he's trying to pull on me.

Kai chuckled, seeing the determination in my eyes, and took a handful of popcorn. He purposely shoves it in his mouth before answering my question, "Because I'm bored." He muffles with popcorn instantly falling out of his mouth, my jaw drops, "Beetlejuice is a great movie..." I said under my breath, and Kai nods in agreement, "Of course it is Orange, but Jo over there watches it all the time. I'm pretty sick of it." He points his index finger at Jo dramatically.

I smile sheepishly, turning to Jo, who was invested in the movie and finding it super adorable, but Kai was irritated.

I huff and cross my arms, leaning back against the couch, "You were the ONE who agreed to join us for a movie night Kai..."
