[Kai Parker's Consciousness]

KAI'S POV

1978

"Happy birthday, twins!" My mother gleams, walking over to the dining table with a cake in her hands that had lit candles on it. She placed the cake in front of Jo and I; our smiles grew wide, unable to turn our gaze away from the yummy frosty cake right under our noses. She turned the lights off with baby Joey following behind my pregnant mother. Jo pulled on my arm and gave me a silly smile, "Six candles...so I get to blow out three, and you get to blow out three!" She squeals, and I smile. "Yeah! But don't forget to make a wish sissy." Jo nods and leans closer to the cake; I did the same. My father walked in with gifts for us. Dad has been making me feel better because my magic isn't here yet, but he said I'm just a late bloomer, and that's okay! I close my eyes alongside my twin and made a wish, 'I wish to get my magic soon, so I can be as strong as dad.' I thought and fluttered my eyes open while blowing the candles out.

"Get him!" I heard one of the boys chasing me say as I ran across the territory, all thanks to my smart mouth. Once I made a right turn, I bumped into a bulky chest, letting out grunts from the contact and pulling away quickly. My eyes gazed at the man I ran into, and it was my father. "What are you doing, boy?" He stared at me, enraged, but before I could even tell him? The five boys chasing me caught up and stood next to my father with a grin plastered over their lips. "You can't hide from us, Kai!" One yelled, and they all cheered while I looked at my father for help. His eyes narrowed, and he scoffs, "I have more important things to deal with." I watched as my father walked away, unfazed of what could happen to his 12-year-old son. The feeling of anger and sadness hit me as fast as the punch I just received on my right cheek. Stumbling back, I held my cheek and glared at the boys who circled me, "How pathetic, you guys have to fight me in a group because you know...one on one with me? Is your biggest fear." I spat, causing all of them to burst into laughter. "Why would we be scared of magicless Kai? You can't harm us." They backed me up against a wall; I've never siphoned anyone besides my family on accident. No one knew about my ability, and my father wanted to keep it that way, but it's hard when you're getting jumped by five witches. I tried pushing them back, throwing my own punches, but they cheated with magic. "Motus." One mumble, and I hit the wall hard. Another took this as their chance to punch me in the gut. I felt weak in the hands of these fuckers, and I couldn't handle that feeling anymore. I was done feeling like everyone's punching bag, my eyes snap over to the boy in front of me, and I grab a hold of his arm, siphoning him. The boy screamed in agony, and I gave him a big smile, "Not so tough now..." My eyes narrowed, looking at the others who stared at me in fear. "Motus!" I yelled, and one flew on top of another, crashing against the wall. My eyes snap over to the one who looked like he just peed his pants. "Incendia." I tilt my head to the side, watching his arm catch on fire. He screamed while trying to put the fire out. I let go of the one I siphoned and watched him pass out. I took too much magic, oops. The feeling of having all of this magic in me...made me feel invincible, something I'd never felt before. I was content with myself and didn't notice the last guy standing, "Oh look, I missed one but don't get jealous...I didn't forget about you! You'll meet the same fate as them." I taunt, approaching him as he trembled in fear. "You-you're a FREAK!" He yells. I grab ahold of his collar, pulling him close to my face, " You shouldn't say that to someone who's about to beat your ass, like come on, do you seriously not watch movies? It's like one o one buddy." I said sarcastically, pushing him to the floor and kicking him on his side. The boy tried to crawl away, which only made me smile at his stupidity. My foot pressed against his leg, stopping him from going any further. "Leave me alone... please." He begs. I moved my foot from his leg and crouched in front of him. "Did you ever leave me alone when I begged? Oh, this one's a good one! Remember when you and your little pals threw me into the lake? I got the flu because of it. Ah, good times..." I said, frowning my brows, "You didn't give me mercy..." I flick my wrist, watching him groan and hold his head, "I should really turn your brain into acid right about now, but what's the fun in that?" The boy pleads for me to stop, but I didn't listen, "I need you to deliver a message... tell everyone, if they try and mess with me again? I'll kill them, got it?" The boy nods and soon passes out.
