AUTUMN'S POV

Today's the big day, and all I want to do is lay in bed and never come out.

For one. I'm nervous.

And two. I'm still upset over what I saw.

Is Mia just better?

The sound of someone opening the door and walking in startled me until I realized it was an energic Kai Parker and all I wanted to do was throw a pillow at him. As the siphon approached me, he removed the blanket off of me, causing a groan to escape my lips. "I let you sleep in already, so up you go before you miss breakfast," Kai ordered and threw my blanket out of my reach.

I huffed and sat up, letting my messy ginger hair fall in front of my face while staring at Kai with a slightly annoyed pout. He looked at me, puzzled and unsure of what was wrong with me.

Kai sat in front of me with a silly smile on his lips while pushing my hair out of my face. "What's with the frown?" He genuinely asked with a hint of concern, making me slightly hopeful that he still cared for me.

Looking down at my nails and picking at them, I look into his blue eyes. "What's going on, Kai? One minute you're with me, and the next, you disappear." I asked, hoping he would fess up already.

But instead, he just stared at me with a secretive smile. "It's top secret." He says in a silly tone and leans in to kiss me, but I pull away. Kai arched a brow with frustration written all over his face, clearly not liking the fact that I denied a kiss from him.

"What are you doing, and why does it involve Mia?" I blurt out with no shame because the jealousy in me couldn't help but want answers, and can you blame me? Kai has a tendency to keep things from me.

Kai had an expressionless look on his eyes, "You don't trust me." He breathes out in disbelief and stands up, obviously hurt by my sudden suspicion, which causes a wave of panic to wash over me.

I stumble out of bed and reach Kai before he can walk out. "I never said that! I just want to know what you're up to." Kai looked down at me with a sigh of defeat.

"Hmm, fine, I'll tell you, but only because I don't like being excused of unfaithfulness by you." Kai seemed bothered by what I said about Mia. He grabbed my hands and gave me a serious look. "One. I like you and only you. Two. She's just a friend, if I can even call her one. Three. Papa Solar wanted today to go smoothly, so he has me on babysit Dean duty." Kai confessed before his eyes lit up, and he pulled out something from his pocket. "I may or may not have stolen your key and took this. . ."

With a sheepish smile, Kai placed a round/goldish object in my hand. I gave him a look and shook my head in disbelief. "All of that happened in one day?" I asked him, and he nodded.
