[ Rainy Days ]

AUTUMN'S POV

The sound of rain crashing against my window brought me back to reality as I sat my textbook down on my desk, taking a mini-break from studying. I needed a distraction from prior events that have occurred a few days ago with Kai and Jo. My eyes trailed over to my pager that sat on the right side of my desk, it was calling my name, but I knew that space between the Parkers was what I needed.

Although it was a struggle NOT to get up and go see them, boredom was eating me away, and I have no idea how I did it before they stepped into my life. There's not much to do in the '90s besides hanging with your friends. I bit my lip at the thought of the two Parkers, groaning when my mind traveled back to mine and Kai's heated moment.

How could I be so stupid? Sleeping with Kai won't do anyone any good. It'll just hurt people, and when I say, people? I mean me. I will always have care for Kai that's not going anywhere, but I can't overstep it, not again, unless I want to repeat the ache in my heart.

And being cooped up at home is doing me no good either. I should go out, maybe get some coffee or something and the idea of going alone? Sounds sadder than it probably seems.

Placing my hands on my desk, I stood up and walked over to my window. My eyes scanned every rain drop that ran down my window and the way all of the trees around my house moved in sync with the wind. It was a beautiful sight as the clouds made the atmosphere seem gloomy and dark, which is how I'm feeling on the inside. Turning to face my closet, I pulled out a dark green jacket and some combat boots that complement my black and white striped t-shirt. I also had on a blue denim skirt and some black tights. My shirt was, of course, tucked in. I sat on my bed, putting my combat boots on, and then my jacket.

My hair was braided in a side ponytail with two strings of hair dangling from my face. Not really having any makeup on but some mascara and lip gloss, I wasn't trying to impress anyone, so I didn't touch it up.

Once making my way down the stairs, I heard noises coming from the living room. And before making my escape to the outside world, I walked over to the living room and peeked my head out from the corner of the wall I was leaning on. My family was watching homemade videos, and I couldn't help but smile. I watched as my father filmed my first day of magic training and how excited I was, he then moved the camera to face other kids, and that's when I saw six-year-old Kai hovering over a candle trying to incendia it, but nothing happened.

Kai looked determined and wasn't giving up on lighting that candle. My eyes saddened, and as much as I wanted to forget about Kai for at least an hour? He seemed to always creep up. The video then switched to my mother in the hospital about to give birth to Eli, causing another smile from me. My parents filmed everything growing up, and as I continued to watch the video, it hit me.
