Warning: CHAPTER CONTAINS VIOLENCE AND DEATH.

JOSETTE'S POV

"You think he'll come out?" Said my brother Joey, aware of last night's events.

My little brother came rushing down the stairs once Joel and Autumn had gone to make sure I was okay, and of course, I wasn't.

Kai had hurt us all last night. I had a big bruise on my cheek to prove it.

Placing a bag of frozen peas on my cheek, I shook my head. "I don't think so. He's been in his room all night."

I didn't intend for things to escalate, but Kai pushed me too far, and I couldn't remain silent any longer.

Hearing him say my life only revolved around the stupid merge drove me crazy; I needed to speak the truth. To tell him that my existence isn't only about him becoming coven leader - that I can love, get married and become something of myself.

In a way, I feel relief. My dad's plan worked.

I broke them up just like my dad wanted me to. . . But at the price of them hating me from now on. Autumn will never forgive me for this, but she's safe. My dad won't hurt her anymore; maybe she'll forgive me one day.

Perhaps Kai will forgive me too when we're older and wiser.

Joey reached for my free hand, trying to comfort me. "It's not your fault, sis. You did what you thought was right. Kai had to know. Maybe this will set him free."

We all knew Kai had to let go of the merge - it was an unhealthy obsession that consumed his life. Made him bitter and cold.

If he could see the good in this situation, he might have peace, like Joey said: Maybe this will set him free.

"Maybe it will. . ." I clunched his fingers with my own. "It won't be easy for him Joey. That's why I need you to help him." Joey looked stunned, so I continued hoping to convince him to help me with Kai. "You're not a kid anymore. You're eighteen years old. I need your help with adult things now. Do you think you can help me take care of this family? Of Kai?"

Joey has always been the pushed aside child by my parents. They were proud of him, but their focus has always been on Lucas, Olivia, me, and Kai.

Most of my siblings have felt pushed aside - unimportant.

Although they were loved, they knew that they were not as important as the twins. Being too young, they didn't have any significant responsibilities nor did they carry the burden of the Gemini Coven on their shoulders. This made it impossible for them to be involved in any Gemini business.

But Joey isn't a kid anymore. He needs to help lead this family in the right direction - to heal after everything that's happened. I trust him to do the right thing, no matter what.
