Author's Note: The "Big Three" dialogue and the plane dialogue is mostly from the show with a couple of changes thrown (don't sue me Marvel I literally have no money) in because I can't help but mess with this plot to fit in my OCs. I'm also bringing in Torres because I love him.

Will's arraignment is three days after his arrest. The morning is tense. They don't cuddle in bed. Shannon goes for an early morning run and returns covered in sweat. When Bucky goes to shower after her, he finds a negative pregnancy test in the trash.

"Thank God," he whispers.

It's not that he doesn't want kids with her, it's just not the right time. For either of them. It's safe to say that things are fucked at the moment and they both have a lot of work to do on themselves before they bring another person into this world.

But he can't deny that he hasn't thought about it. A lot. A quiet life with a couple of kids in a gorgeous apartment in Brooklyn sounds pretty good. Peaceful. Well, aside from the screaming. No doubt their children would have his temper and Shannon's fiery disposition. Probably her red hair, too. One step at a time, though, he reminds himself.

Their breakfast is a couple of protein bars and a mug of black coffee. She dresses conservatively, but professionally. Black dress pants and a red blouse, her hair pulled back into a low ponytail. She asks him if she should wear makeup, but he tells her not to worry about it.

"It'll be fifteen minutes, tops. You look gorgeous."

He holds her hand the entire taxi ride to the courthouse. The arraignment is fast. They bring Will out in a prison jumpsuit.

"Orange looks good on him," Bucky mumbles.

Shannon suppresses a chuckle. Will's nose is broken, and he has two black eyes from Bucky's fist. Bucky thinks he should have hit harder. Will is being charged with domestic abuse, assault with a deadly weapon, and stalking. His bail is set at $2 million dollars. The judge bangs his gavel, and they file out of the courtroom. When they step out into the hall, Sam is waiting outside. He rushes up to Shannon and wraps her in a tight hug. Bucky is simultaneously relieved and displeased to see him. He's still angry about the shield, about John Walker and this bullshit Captain America thing. Every time he sees a "CAP IS BACK!" poster on the street, he rips it off of whatever lamp post or building it's been tacked on to and shreds it into a thousand little pieces, imagining he's pummeling the shit out of that shit-eating grin. Smug bastard. Bucky hates his face.

"I heard what happened," Sam says, his voice filled with worry. "I'm so sorry I wasn't there."

"I had this one to rescue me," Shannon says, pointing at Bucky. Sam chuckles and her eyes bounce between the two of them. "I'm going to go to the bathroom and splash some water on my face."

"We'll wait outside for you," Bucky says.

She nods and darts into the ladies' room. Bucky is pretty sure it's an excuse to get them to talk face to face for the first time since the Smithsonian. Sam and Bucky stand in silence, both of their arms crossed over their chests, and neither of them knowing what to say to the other. Finally, Bucky relents.

"You shouldn't have given up the shield."

Sam sighs.

"I was going to say it's good to see you too, Buck."

"This is wrong."

"Buck, I don't have time to worry about that right now. I've got work to do after this, I'm here for Shannon right now. You should be too. So, all this outrage is going to have to wait."
