Missed Opportunities

Alex pushes me back and gets between us.

I text Austin.
C: Come down here and bring Dale. Hurry.

I text Uncle Will.

C: Please come down here. And speak to Doug. He said he would not talk to me "the stupid bitch" and he tried to grab me..  Alex has him on the ground now.

W: We are all on our way.

One of the casino security guards is helping Alex hold him down and one is standing between us.

Everyone enters the room.  Austin grabs me and carries me out.  Dale comes with us.  Uncle Will pulls everyone off of Doug. Alex comes and stands between us again. Stan punches Doug a few times.  Dale is behind us when we enter the room.
Uncle Will, Stan and myself sat at one side of the table while Doug sat at the other.
Alex is standing on one side and Dale on the other.  Austin is behind me.
D: What the hell is this you are taking the whore's side?
Stan punches him in the mouth.
W: Talk to my niece like that again and I will shoot you in the fucking face. Did you plan on hitting my beautiful niece?
D: I didn't know I thought she was one of the workers. 
W: So this is why they are on strike, because you treat them like shit. Get the fuck out and don't come back.  You piece of shit.
He turns to say something.
W: One fucking word and I will have you black balled.
Doug leaves.
Austin turns my chair around. He is leaning over me, our foreheads touching.
A: Princess are you ok?
C: Yes. Alex has me.  Doug never got close.  He pushed my chair back and tackled him. The others followed his lead.
A: Alex, thank you.
Alex: You're welcome sir.
C: Thank you Alex.  I'm sorry I put you in that position.
Alex: Stop that.  He did this, not you.  You have no reason to apologize.
C: Thank you.
W: Are you ok?
C: Yes sir.
W: Next time, call Stan to sit with you.  At Least for a while. I need to find a new floor manager.
C: I have an idea.
W: I'm listening.
C: What are the responsibilities of a floor manager?
W: Keep people smiling and happy.  Make sure the waitresses are taken care of mainly.
C: Could Daisy do it?  On a probationary level?
S: She is good dad.  She has been here for 10 years. I can train her and she knows the girls.
W: Ok. I'm going home.
Uncle Will looked at his guards.
W: If anyone hurts a hair on her head I will personally hold you two responsible.
SG: Yes sir.
C: Stan sit down, you're staying until I leave.
S: Did Doug scare you?  I'm ½ a foot taller and you will jump me in a heartbeat.
C: You won't hurt me. If you do, your dad will kill you.
S: That's true.

Daisy comes in the door.

S: Doug has been fired.  How would you like his position?  There will be an increase in pay and you will be able to do more for the girls.  You can make schedules to ensure needs are met, and if someone gets handsy you have the power to throw them out.  Charlotte and I will still work on any other need, but this is a start. If you are ok with it.
D:Charlotte, are you ok?
C: I am.  Thanks to Alex, he never touched me. I'm Hatfield. I have thick skin.
D: Good.
C: Here is my number. I will be happy to help any way I can.
D: Thank you.
C: I'm tired. I'm going to leave now if you will excuse me

POV Austin:
Alex did his job. Thank god.  That man could have easily hurt her. He was bigger than me. Alex didn't hesitate.

Casino Security and Stan walked us out.   I held Charlotte's hand, and I felt her pulling back. Doug grabbed her, I got between them.  Casino Security and Stan have him before he can touch her.

S: Have a good rest of the night.  I will take care of this cuz.

We get back to the room.

A: I'm not sure I can handle you working there.
C: I'm sorry.  I put myself in that situation I should have called Stan. I just wanted to talk to him about the girls having restroom breaks and meals breaks.  I'm not really going to be working there.  I will just be there if something happens.
A: He is a piece of shit.
C: Yes sir he is.
A: I like it when you call me sir.
C: Wait. I need to talk to Alex and thank him.
A: Shit. Fine, let's go.
