"AHA!" mrs. valesquez grinned to herself. she held her phone in her hand, eyes gleaming over the 20 plus comments she was getting from her Facebook post yesterday. now everyone—mainly mia's family—believed that mia was out on vacation...somewhere. so she had some form of an alibi overseas. but now? she needed someone to cover for her at work. "levántate, mia. wake up!" screamed her mother from the top of her lungs, as she headed towards her daughter's room, knocking on the door.
mia's body flinched at the sound of her hispanic mother and instantly rolled out of bed. mia was no longer the captain of this ship. her mother was in control now coming up with the plan, waking everyone up for family and jeongguk meeting time.
"ugh," mia groaned. this sucks. but on the bright side. it felt like every other day before jeongguk.
moving like a zombie she willed herself to walk to the bathroom, get dressed and ready for the day.
jeongguk, meanwhile, was already ready. he was up early, clean, dressed and helping mrs. valesquez with the breakfast. that last part to be fair wasn't by his own will, she made it clear he would have to contribute in some way shape or form and he chose anything that gets him close to food.
but as mia walked into the kitchen, with more energy than when she has awoken, she rolled her eyes st the sight.
"ma! you can't make the guest cook the meals," she scolded. she turned to jeongguk, "you don't have to help jeongguk, you're already under a lot of stress."
jeongguk nodded politely but he was not prepared to say no to momma valesquez.
"excuse me? he's been sleeping here for how many days? without rent? no no no, he's helping," mrs. valesquez said, tossing the eggs into a pan.
mia shook her head. her mom wasn't quite getting it. she stepped closer to her and whispered in spanish, "i've seen the bon voyage episodes, they don't know how to make american breakfast!"
jeongguk paused from mixing his pancake mix and looked up with a pout. "hey i can hear you—"
"good morning my beautiful family," daniel begins, smiling as he enters the living room. "oh jeongguk, didn't see you there. forgot you were even here," then he turns to see his sister huddling with their mother. "oh right it's all mia's fault that you're here."
mia rolls her eyes. surely her brother was delighting in the fact that their whole family is in a situation and it's her fault.
"we're gonna get out of all of this. at least help make breakfast, maybe make the pancakes, jeongguk why don't you make a fruit salad..or soemthing," mia sheepishly offers after sticking her tongue out at her brother.
"if you say so," daniel shrugs.
suddenly her dad enters the kitchen and gives his family his good mornings. he nods to jeongguk who nods back slowly.
"mia, did you tell archie to come over?" his asks his daughter who's hand was being slapped from the food by her mother.
mia nodded, "yup. he's very confused about why we need to talk, but he should be on his way."
jeongguk glanced at mia expecting some sort of emotions to appear at the mention of archie but found none. before she could glance back at him, he looked down at the bowl of fruits and whispered to himself, "ugh, what am i thinking."
mia's brows furrowed when his whispers were translated right in front of her. hm, what was he thinking?
"great," her father said, and joined the family and jeongguk in their breakfast making.
