thump. thump. thump, was the sound of the the NJ police's footsteps making their way to the valesquez front door.

it was a small crew, it was just a simple ask. no warrant...yet. they didn't want to scare the suspect just yet.

"i'll do the talking," said the police man in the front. when he reached their door, he could hear the sound of the tv playing. he gave a strong knock. he glanced behind him to his men with a small warning. they were of course prepared for anything.

the sound of small conversation can be heard from outside and then footsteps getting louder until the door swung open revealing a very tall, buff dark skinned man. he still had on his work clothes and he smelled of wood.

the officer almost felt intimidated until he saw the slight fear in the man's eyes at the sight of the uniforms. he cleared his throat. "are you mr. valesquez father of mia valesquez?"

mr. valesquez nodded and every single bad thing he'd ever done played like a movie in his brain even the worse thing he's done: tell his wife she was gaining a little weight. it's just an observation i love you always!, he tried to tell her but she found a way to make it seem like it was his fault.

he tried to push it all out of his brain and simply nodded.

"we have reason to believe your daughter is a suspect in a very offensive crime and we need to bring her in for questioning. is she here?"

mrs. valesquez in her eavesdropping instantly got up and stomped to the door, slightly pushing her husband to the side.

the officers were equally as intimidated by her. she was just as tall and strong with a fierce look.

"excuse me? what offensive crime? my daughter barely does anything except home and work where she happens to be at, at the moment. but i can assure you officer my daughter is no criminal." she said with an attitude every chance she got.

"our daughter," her husband chimed in.

"uh-huh, we raised her right."

"yeah where's the evidence?"

"warrant?"

"yeah the what the hell was the crime?"

the officers shook their head. the leader took out his hands promising to answer their questions but he first assured them she was simply a suspect in a great mystery concerning the disappearance and kidnapping of a korean celebrity.

it took every atom in mrs. valesquez's body to prevent herself from flinching at the word "korean". for a split second she had questioned her own daughter's sanity just in case she was wrong. her husband was quicker to wave that fear away.

"that's very unfortunate but my daughter has nothing to do with it. please come back with a warrant if you'd like to do further investigating. we have nothing to hide." that they know of.

the officers glanced at each other.

"oh we'll be back. it won't take long i suppose, there's lots of evidence. just turn on the news, perhaps you'll be able to recognize her," the main officer said. "keep in mind that your daughter is past 18 so she is of age and your protest or interference will not be of much help." he stared blankly at the parents. "anyways. we apologize for disturbing your evening. see you soon."

the valesquez were in no hurry to stay at the door and quickly shut the door and paced around the living room.

"'see you soon?'" mrs. valesquez scoffed, rolling her eyes at the tv displaying their favorite tv show still playing. "our daughter have nothing to do with this. what the hell. where is this coming from?"
