MIA's room door swung right open and out came her mother, a tall and dark woman with freckles all over. her cute panda pajamas looked like a joke compared to her warrior like stance and fierce brown eyes that stared deep into mia's soul.

mia who had taken a small five minute nap since being awake for hours, jerked her body up from her bed and her heart rate quickened.

"mia did you eat the leftovers?"

at the sound of her name, she rolled out of bed with her glasses on and staggered towards her mom. with her body screaming tired, she leaned her small body on her mother's large and tall one. she didn't even care about the mark her glasses would make on her face.

"good morning ma," mia yawned. she was so drained she couldn't even remember from her five minute nap why she stayed up. she didn't seem to remember the kpop idol who magically ended up in her room.

her mother scoffed, thinking mia had tried to avoid the question, "mia did you eat the leftovers? those were supposed to be your father's lunch."

"leftover?" mia questioned, the word not registering in her brain. her ears perked against her mother's stomach.

her mother rolled her eyes, "i'm not gonna ask again, mia."

"no ma..." her daughter drawled, "i didn't..."

ms. valesquez shook her head, "it's okay but next time wash the dishes. i'll make him a sandwich. now wake up, you have a whole day to yourselves while the rest of us go work. when i come back i expect you to be doing something productive and not dancing around the house like those coreanos you like so much."

coreanos. mia thought for a second. finally a word that made sense to her.

wait...she thought.

mia gasped, startling her mother. she looked back up at her mother with crooked glasses and a shocked face

"what? i didn't say anything i don't usually say, right?" mrs. valesquez asked confused. she wondered how her daughter ended up so weird.

where the heck is jeongguk? mia thought.

"uhh..." mia's brain tried coming up with an excuse, "ma! good morning, i love you and i'm sorry i ate the leftovers and i promise i'll do something productive today but right now i need to change so can you leave?"

mia knew she was asking for something you could never ask her mother.

mrs. valesquez narrowed her eyes, "are you trying to kick me out your room?" she put her hands on her hips, towering over her daughter who laughed nervously.

"no ma i just need to change," mia said simply.

"uh-huh," mrs. valesquez eyes her daughter suspiciously but after a moment or two, gave in, "i'm watching you niña."

"don't worry ma," mia nervously laughed, turning her mother's body with her tiny hands and gently guiding her out the door.

"yeah right," her mother scoffed. before she could fully leave she turned around and grabbed her daughter's face and kissed her cheek. "in case i don't see you before i leave. love you!"

"me too."

mia closed the door behind her mother and locked it. instantly like predator looking for its prey she went searching for jeongguk in her room.
