THE POLICE arrived at the scene with the news that the hashtag, wheresjeongguk, was trending twitter. screen recordings of his vlive were being posted and reposted and commented on to the point where almost every army on social media had seen the video and it was translated in as many languages as possible.
it was impossible to explain the glass cup that wasn't his and how a blue smoke clouded the screen and seconds later, jeongguk wasn't there.
good thing the detectives, who were asked to keep this under wraps and priority, found this vital clue to their investigation.
"um...this isn't wine." detective jones, a short middle aged man with greying blonde hair pointed out at the different color purple splotches of liquid on jeongguk's desk. his hand covered in blue gloves were careful not to touch the liquid until collection. mr. kwon and the other staff weren't even supposed to be in their but they expressed the money that would be in the police's interest if they kept this process quick.
"but he drinking wine," mr. kwon said in English.
"yes, but this glass cup here is not what jeongguk was drinking from. the different color and the taste and smell tell me that this puddle right here is actually grape juice and this one over there, close to the wine bottle is actual wine. the one jeongguk had been drinking. that glass cup there is where the grape juice came from but there was no sign of it in that video," jones concluded.
"unless it was behind camera before video making?" mr. kwon asked.
"yeah unless that but he didn't purchase any grape juice recently. it doesn't seem likely also considering his hands weren't even near the cup. it was at different angle," jones put his hands on his hips, taking one last look around. "it's like we're missing something. we still don't know what that blue smoke thing was. oh! what did you and your staff decide on telling the fans?"
"it sounds weird, but we are saying magic trick," mr. kwon sheepishly smiled.
detective jones let out a laugh, "that's perfect."
"yes. we say jeongguk was practicing magic trick for next concert."
"that's really good. that should hold the fans off for a while. now meanwhile, we're going to see if we can get any finger prints or dna from the glass cup and the bottle, just in case."
mr. kwon sighed in relief, "thank you so much for all your hard work." he bowed.
"just doing our job," detective jones nodded his head. "well, i'm going to finish the interviews with the other band members. my men and women will keep you posted."
as he left jeongguk's room, mr. kwon still felt a little unsure about the entire situation. if they did find someone else's DNA, what would that mean for jeongguk?

jimin gasped, startling namjoon on his hotel bed.
"what if the kidnapper used smoke as a distraction so we wouldn't see the crime?" jimin wondered.
namjoon being the logic brainiac he is shot the idea down, "the smoke didn't even cover the camera that much. if that was the case we would have heard a struggle—"
"—maybe the smoke knocked him out?" jimin questioned.
"but he didn't just fall. even if the blue cloudy smoke covered some of the camera, he didn't knock out. he leans into the camera, smoke appears and that's it," namjoon shrugs.
