Jamie
As soon as we walked through the threshold of the front door the air in the house grew think. Connor had his eyes trained on me like I was his prey. "We need to talk." He said in a gruff voice making my nerves bounce around inside me like a light up ball in a display case. "Go on." I beckoned. He lead me to his couch and we both took a seat never once looking away from one another. He cleared his throat pulling at his collar. "Well I can't believe I'm saying this but I lost my nerve." I giggled at his words.
"Connor just spit it out already, we're friends and you can ask or say anything you need to without feeling like I'm some pack member waiting to pounce." That seemed to get him to calm down just a hair or two. His chest seemed broader than before, sucking in a few deep breaths and letting them out as his posture slumped slightly. "While I was at war I had plenty of time to think." He paused looking around at his living room before standing up and walking over to sit beside me. "Well?" I asked watching him fidget.
My thoughts ran wild hoping it was good news or at least some kind of crazy war story he wanted to get off his chest. "Jamie I need something from you." He whispered pushing the hair away from my neck. His warm breath washing over my sensitive skin making my insides bubble with heat. "Tell me what you need?" It was more like a statement than a question at this point. "I need you." The words fell from his lips so softly making my eyes roll back in my head with pure bliss. "Where?" I asked trying to get what he needed out of him.
"Jamie I need you, in my bed." And there it was. Olivia was right, Lola was right. He really was trying to get at me and I never thought twice about it. Everyone seen the signs but me. "I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm being a whore but I've done nothing but think of you since the moment I left for Nebraska. I need you in my bed, I want you in my bed. I've wanted you in my bed since the night I smelled your arousal and heard you moaning in your sleep. Please Jamie I need you, now more than ever." He begged before lowering his lips to the bare skin on my neck.
My eyes shot open looking around in the dark trying to see where I was. "You alright?" Olivia asked from the bunk above mine. "Yeah I'm fine." I spoke after she jumped down from her bed and crawled into mine. "So you wanna tell me what happened?" She asked looking at me. "He just thanked me for watching over his house and gave me some money for new things. Nothing more, nothing less." I wasn't lying. He did do that for me but ever since Connor had gotten back from the Nebraska war my mind has been ruthless trying to get me to crawl into bed with him. I tried to hold back the thoughts of being in his bed but it was never ending for me. "You really want him don't you?" She asked with a little sadness in her tone. "I try not to think about it but he's driving me insane. I wish things were different." I told her truthfully.
"Maybe you should try it. He seems to like your company so maybe he would be willing to help you with your little problem." She said with a little smirk on her lips. "I don't think that would be the best idea. I mean he could go nuts and kick me out of the pack. Where the hell would I even go?" I tried to reason with her. "Girl, you're making excuses not to go for it. If he's getting to you that bad then maybe you should try and see what he really says. There is nothing wrong with trying and if he goes for it then great. If he doesn't, it's not like he will blow you away with a huff and a puff. I bet he would be down for it in a heartbeat." She said with a little nudge. "Quit trying to think of the what if's and go get some of that man before someone else does." She said now making me run out of the room towards his house yet again.
My bare feet were mushing into the soil as thoughts of Connor ran through my head like wildfires. His house coming into view with a little light on at the front door, like he was waiting on me. As soon as my feet hit the deck I looked up at his door seeing it had swung open and Connor standing on the other side with only a pair of gray sweatpants on. "Jamie?" He asked looking at me with confusion on his face and in his voice. "Hey babe." I heard a voice behind me and my mind went insane. Turning around all I could see was Lola standing there watching us with anger in her eyes for me but a smile on her face. "Lola, I'm sorry I never intended to bother your little get together but I really need to speak with Alpha Connor." I told her before she walked up beside me looking at Connor expectantly. "I'm sorry Lola but if she needs to talk to me she will have her way. She was also here before you and I won't let her walk back home without having her voice heard. We can talk later." He said before pulling me into the house and slamming the door in her face.
I sat at the table in front of him trying to focus on anything put his abs and chest. "You needed to speak with me?" He asked with a little smirk. "Yes but I need an answer or two first." I said and he nodded at me. "Are you sleeping with Lola?" I asked with a little touch of sadness. "No why would I sleep with her? She's so irritating." He spoke with a little laugh at the end. "Why did she call you babe?" I questioned lightly. "She's been trying to get me to claim or mate with her for years now. I don't need anything from her or care of her other than a pack member. I would rather wait for a million years with no sex than to crawl into bed with her." He explained. "Why are you asking me all these questions about Lola and I, Jamie?" He asked after a second or two. "Are you romantically involved with anyone in or around any other pack? We are friends and I don't want people getting the wrong idea about me." I told a half truth.
He sat up in his chair a little higher before speaking, understanding what I was saying. "I had a little thing going on with a pack member from Hawaii. I never see her much anymore because of all the wars taking place around here. The last I heard from her, she was being claimed by the Alpha of her pack." I nodded thinking about his words. "Okay, do you have real feelings for her? Like, do you love her in anyway other than sexually?" He looked at me for a few moments before huffing at me. "Jamie, I had many feelings for her but as of late I can't. She has a mate and a pack to look after. I can't let my feelings for her change her fate with the Alpha of her home." He told me like it was a weight lifted off his shoulders. "Well then." I said with a little surprise in my tone. "I try to be happy about the way things have gone for her and don't get me wrong, I am happy for her but I just can't sometimes. Things are different when I really look at the way things went between her and I. She was a great friend when she could be but now she is no longer that for me. I've actually thought about you being that friend for me since she can't be anymore." He spoke longingly to me.
