Jamie

We stood on the porch of this tiny house on the far side of the pack grounds, knocking on the front door. The door slowly cracked open and a old man and little woman stood behind it with a smile seeing Connor's face. "Hi Connor, how can we help you hun?" The little lady asked with a smile that never left her face. "I'm doing great, how have you two been since Luke moved out with Olivia?" He asked returning the smile. Wow, so these are Luke's parents. Looking at the man, I could really see Luke in his face but older and more tired.

"We're doing just fine and who is this young lady you've brought with you?" Luke's father asked looking over at me with the same sweet look in his eyes that he had for Connor. "This is my mate Jamie Beck." Connor told the couple and they both seemed to be so happy for us both. After a little chatting on the porch they invited us into the house and sat us in the living room. "How is the girl?" Connor asked and they both seemed to become very sad at the mention of the girl. "She's been crying a lot or asking for her mother. I fear she will never be okay." The little lady said making me want to cry for the girl at hand.

I shot up from the couch I was sitting on, making the elderly couple snap their heads in my direction. "Please, take me to her." It was more like begging than asking. The lady stood up and walked to the hallway pointing to the door at the end of the hall. "She's right in there love." She said before leaving me to do what I needed to do. I made it to the door and knocked lightly on it and getting a tiny "come in" from the other side. Turning the handle I opened the door and went to sit with the girl crying on the bed. Her brown hair was spread out all around her and her skin was pale like mine.

"Can I speak with you sweetheart?" I asked in a soft voice, I didn't want to upset her anymore than she already was. The little girl sat up from the bad and wiped the tears from her rosey red cheeks before looking up at me with her icy blue and milky white eyes. "What is your name?" I asked with a little smile. "Sapphire." She said returning the little smile. "Well, my name is Jamie. How old are you little Miss. Sapphire?" I asked pinching her rosey red cheeks making her giggle and scrunch up moving away from me. "I'm five, how old are you Jamie?" She asked looking up at me with fondness in her beautiful big blue white eyes.

She was so beautiful staring up at me in wonder. "I'm eighteen." I told her making her eyes get big. I made her laugh and giggle as we talked for a really long time. My stomach was growling like a wolf, pun intended, and I could hear her's as well. As if on cue there was a light knock on the door and then it slowly opened showing Connor on the other side. Sapphire was quick to jump behind me, hiding from Connor's view. "Jamie, love, we have been here for almost three hours. I think it's time to get going." He told me, making me sad. I turned to Sapphire and looked into her eyes making my decision.

"I will be back I promise." I whispered to her before following Connor out the door and onto the front porch. "Hey, can we talk real quick?" I asked him, making him stop from walking on without saying what I needed to say. "Sure." He said turning around and sitting on the steps with me. "What's up?" He asked with so much thought in his voice and love in his eyes. I sucked in a deep breath of air before letting it out, gaining my nerve. "She can't leave the pack grounds. This is the only place she has ever known and we can't take that from her too. Not after losing her mom and dad. She needs to stay where she's comfortable and this is that place." I told him honestly.

Connor looked at me for a few minutes and then at the house. "Well, what would you suggest I do with her? She can't stay with Luke's parents forever and I highly doubt anyone else here has the room for her or the time to raise her. They have their own family to worry about." Connor told me with a little sadness and worry for the girl. "I have nothing to do most days beside helping make pack decisions but, you usually do that great on your own." I told him hoping he would catch on. "Okay but that doesn't really help anything love. She still has no one to take care of her." He said, still not connecting the dots.

"Connor, I want to take care of her. She already knows me and I can tell she trusts me. I want to have a family of my own and I think we can do this together." I told him holding his hand and smiling at him. "Are you sure you want to do this?" He asked pulling his eyebrows together to look at me hard. "Yes, more than anything. I can help her and it would be great." I told him with a big smile. He looked into my eyes and then nodded making me jump in excitement before going back into the house to get Sapphire and all of her things.

She seemed to be so happy that she was coming with me and I was just the same as her. "Connor, can you please carry this bag?" I asked as he walked into the room. Again Sapphire tucked herself behind my legs, waiting til he was gone to come out again. "He won't hurt you, I promise. He is really nice and he will be living with us." I told her holding my pinky out for a pinky promise.
