Jamie
I laid on my bed trying to relax the best I could but nothing seemed to be working. I counted to one hundred, listened to music, and even tried to draw but it just didn't help at all. I knew what I wanted but that was completely out of reach. I longed to be hugged by my mom and dad, hear my little brother complain about some stupid toy he wanted, and my moms home made potato soup. Living without my family was complete torture for a girl who only ever had her family. I sat up looking through my window to see that the sun had gone down completely and the moon was in full bloom. Things were different and I was just going to have to make myself move on one way or another. Standing up I made my way to find the one person I knew I could trust. Walking in the living room I couldn't find him there so I went to check the last place he could be.
I knocked on the door softly waiting for it to open but it never did. "Come in." His voice was hoarse from I guess sleep which made me feel slightly bad but I did it anyways. Opening the door there he sat, bare back resting on the headboard, hair cascading down his chest, and the blanket resting on his hips lowly. "How can I help you, Jamie?" He asked looking at me with a little worry on his face. Tears ran down my face as I turned around closing the door behind me and trying to catch my breath before turning around to face him in the dark room again. "Connor, I know you need to sleep but I really need you right now." I spoke as a knot formed in my throat causing my words to crack and my body to shake like a leaf in heavy wind. He slid out of bed making his way over to me and in an instant I was scooped up into his arms and carried to his bed. Once he put me down he slid in beside me putting his arm around my waist, pulling me into his side. My head resting on his chest and my hand on his stomach. I felt his free hand run through my hair and his lips press against my forehead leaving a tender kiss there.
"I know he took everything you had but you have me and the pack now. I know we aren't blood family but we are close enough to it. This is your home now, if you want it." He said as I nodded against his chest. "I would love to be apart of your pack. I just wish it would have been on better terms than these. I wish I could have met you like a normal girl meets a person such as yourself. I wish I could have went to school and met Olivia because she was the only girl I actually liked in a class, and I wish you could have introduced me to Luke so I could hook Olivia and him up. I would give anything to just have a normal life with my family and the rest of you in it as well." I tried to hold back my tears but it was hard. I seemed to have a whole different life thought out in my head but I would have loved for it to actually happen. "I would have asked you to meet my mom and dad and little brother. They would have loved to have you around. My little brother would have tricked you into playing cars with him. My dad would have tried to teach you all about cars and motors. My mom would have tried to give you a new hair style every time you came over to hangout with me." I chuckled at the thoughts spinning around in my head of a better world that would never happen. "It's a bitter sweet dream." I spoke longingly.
Connor seemed to like what I was saying as I looked up at the smile playing on his lips and the dreamly state of his eyes. "I would have done all those things just to be around you. I would play with cars, help your dad, and let your mom play with my hair because I never got something like that when my parents were here. If we are making up fake worlds were everything good happens, then I would have taken you to meet my mom, she would have loved you. My dad on the other hand, he might be a little irritated because I'm spending all my time with someone that isn't my mate. I honestly think after he really got to know you, he would have really loved you." He said this like it was painful for him.
"Why do you think that you can't take me to meet them now?" I asked looking into his sad eyes. "My dad died in a pack war, that left me to be the Alpha of my pack. My mom, well after many years without her husband ended up grieving herself to death." He made me feel bad for him. I knew what it was like to not have any family left. "Connor, I'm so sorry that that happened to you. I want you to know that I will always be here for you." I told him before giving him a tight hug. "Thank you. Now it's time for us to get some sleep. I have a pack to lead and you have a long day tomorrow as well." I looked up at him with questioning eyes. He looked down at me with a little smile. "You are going to be staying with me. I need you with me to help fix some things with my pack. I value your opinion and I feel like you are the only person I can trust when it comes to telling me the truth on pack matters, besides Luke." He said making me smile with happiness.
