I was now at the police station, in the interrogation room with the two detectives. I was scared out of my pants. On our way here, the two detectives hadn't said anything to me. Was this about the king? It had to be. They said they wanted to ask me questions about my boyfriend. Technically, the king was my boyfriend even though we hadn't really made our relationship official yet.
Detective Ngubo: "Ms. Tetani do you know this man?" She slid the picture of the king on the table towards me. I swallowed and said nothing... "Ms. Tetani not talking to us won't do you any good. Trust me. We've already confirmed that you know this man." She said showing me pictures of me and the king together. There were several of them of us leaving the hospital together and also arriving at my parents' house about 9 days ago. Oh my gosh! They were following us? But why? I just looked at the pictures and said nothing. I squeezed my hands together to stop them from shaking. For some reason I knew I couldn't let them see that I was scared and intimidated by them. Detective Olsen banged on the table with his fist angrily. I jumped a little in surprise.
Detective Olsen: "Ms. Tetani you better start talking! Or else there will be trouble for you and your family. Do you want that?" My heart was beating crazily against my chest. My God! ... "tell us everything you know about this man, starting with his name." He ordered.
Me: "I-I don't know anything."
Detective Olsen: "Bullshit!" He exploded... "you're in his bed so you should know something."
Detective Ngubo: "Steve calm down." Detective Olsen got up and went to the corner of the room and released a frustrated breath pulling his hair... "Ms. Tetani listen to me. This man is a bad man. He has killed a lot of people. Even innocents. We just want to put him away behind bars so that no more innocent people can die with his hand." She informed me... "but for us to be able to do that, we need conclusive evidence against him and we think you're the key in getting it. So please tell us something. It can be anything." Were they playing good cop bad cop on me? Really? Who were they fooling? They thought I would just spill the beans about the king to them just like that? So foolish! And it's not like I knew anything anyways. The only thing I knew about the king was his name. And there was no in hell I was going to be telling these two his name. I kept quiet. Detective Ngubo huffed. She was getting a little irritated and impatient with me. Haaa! ... "let me tell you something that you might not know about this man you allowed in your bed Ms. Tetani." She said to me folding her arms... "that man..." She nodded to the picture of the king that was on the table amongst the others... "is a contract killer. Which means that he kills for money." Even though I was shocked and a bit horrified by this revelation about the king, I kept my mouth closed and tried not to give away anything by making sure no emotions were reflected on my face. I was a pro at this you know. I had a lot of practice over the years. I had to mask my pain and suffering more than I could count from people, especially my friends to avoid receiving pitying looks from them. So most of the times I would pretend to be happy whilst I was dying inside. I'm sure a lot of rape victims like me, did the the same thing. It's just that I couldn't seem to hide my true self from the king. So that's why you guys hadn't known this other side of me... "he's known as the Silent Killer." Silent Killer? ... "do you know why?" No. But I didn't say that.
Detective Olsen: "It's because they never see him coming. He kills them before they even know it." He said leaning forward towards me with his hands on the table... "so we'll give you one last chance Ms. Tetani, who is this man?!" Before I could say anything, the door of the interrogation room opened. And in entered a man in a white suit holding a briefcase. Yes, white suit! He was black.
Him: "I would like it now if you guys stopped interrogating my client." He said sitting down on the chair next to me and crossing his legs.
Detective Olsen: "Client?"
Him: "Yes. I'm Ms. Tetani's attorney, Duma Ntloko." He said giving them his business card. What? I had an attorney? I hadn't known that.
Detective Olsen: "You've got to be kidding me!" He exploded.
Duma: "Detectives tell me, is my client under arrest?" He asked calmly with his hands folded on his lap.
Detective Olsen: "No but-."
Duma: "No buts." He cut him off... "so she's free to go?"
Detective Ngubo: "We still have-." Duma chuckled.
Duma: "Detectives, I know for a fact that you two have no basis in interrogating my client right now since she did nothing wrong. So if you don't want a claim to be filed against you and this station, you'll let her go now." Detective Olsen gritted his teeth.
Detective Olsen: "This is bullshit! She's in bed with the suspect-."
Duma: "So? Do you interrogate everyone that you get in bed with detective?"
Detective Olsen: "What did you just say-."
Duma: "My client has nothing to say and since you don't have the right to keep her here, we'll be leaving." He said standing.
Detective Olsen: "Wait a minute, we're not-."
Detective Ngubo: "Olsen, leave it."
Duma: "Yes Olsen, listen to your partner and leave it."
Detective Olsen: "You-."
Duma: "Ms. Tetani let's go." He said to me. I stood up.
Detective Olsen: "This is not over yet." He spat. Duma chuckled.
Duma: "Oh I believe it is detective." He grabbed his briefcase and then we walked out.

We were now outside the police station.
Duma: "I'll be off now Ms. Tetani, my job here is done."
Me: "Did he sent you?" I whispered.
Duma: "Who sent me?" He whispered back.
Me: "You know who. Him." He chuckled.
Duma: "I don't who you're talking about Ms. Tetani. Nobody sent me."
Me: "But-."
Duma: "Stay out of trouble. Adios!" He winked and got into a car that I just now noticed that it had been parked right in front of us. After he got in, it drove off and I was left stupefied. What the hell just happened? A black BMW stopped in front of me, and a man got out.
Him: "Are you Ms. Tetani?" I nodded... "there's a call for you." He said holding a cellphone out to me.
Me: "A call for me?" I asked pointing to my chest. I was even more stupefied now.
Him: "Yes. Please take the phone Ms. Tetani." I took the phone from him hesitantly and put it against my ear.
Me: "H-hello?"
Caller: "Go with Zack beautiful. He will take you home." Oh my gosh!
Me: "King?" Then I slapped my mouth with my hand when I realized I said his name out loud. So stupid!
Caller: "Yes, it's me."
Me: "How-."
Kumkani: "See you tomorrow beautiful." Then he hung up. What the? How could he hang up on me like that? So frustrating!
Me: "So you're Zack?"
Zack: "Yes ma'am." I gave him his phone back giggling a bit. Can you just imagine, he called me ma'am. A whole ma'am! I'm still so young... "I'll take you home now. Please get in the car." He opened the backseat door for me. This was so surreal. I slid in the car. Zack put the plastic bags I had with me in the boot and entered in the driver's seat and we were off.

On the way home, I played back everything those detectives had said about the king. What had they said again? That he was a contract killer. That he killed people for money. And also that he was known as the Silent Killer. I honestly don't know how I felt with the information I just got about the king. I was still processing everything in my head, really. So he killed people. I mean, he had killed those men that had...you guys know what men I was referring to. Anyways, he had killed them and that had been fine with me but this, knowing that he killed for a living was another different ball game. I mean, what kind of living was that? I was curious as to how he got to do what he was doing. I mean, there had to be reason right? Nobody just wakes up and decides to be a killer. Right bethu? I was so conflicted right now. My father had been right, what the king did was way more dangerous than any of us could've imagined. Oh my God! The king was a killer! I must say though, that the name Silent Killer suited him. Hayini uKhazimle! What? I'm just saying! Okay okay I wasn't going to think about this. Good luck with that! Okay, I was going to try not to think about it. I was going to wait for the king to come back tomorrow so that I could ask him in his face if what the detectives had said was all true. I honestly didn't know what I was going to do if he confirmed that it was all true. I honestly really didn't know. It's not like I could dump him or anything. I mean, he was my life line at the end of the day. But then again, could I really be with a killer? My stomach twisted up in knots. What a day I had bethuna!

When I got home, my mother was on my ass about taking too long. And I definitely wasn't about to tell her all that had happened because already she wasn't a fan of the king so just imagine how against him she'd be if I told her? No. She'd never let me see him again if she knew. I knew my mother. So I just made up a lame excuse about not being able to find a taxi and also the traffic. She bought it, thank God! For the whole day and its' night, I was in my head thinking on this whole thing about the king being a killer, even though I had said I wouldn't. I couldn't help myself. My parents had commented once or twice about how absentminded I had been ever since I had come back from Spar but I brushed them off saying it was nothing. But they watched me closely. They did a lot of that now. The watching and paying close attention to me. I got why they did that, even though it got on my last nerve. They were scared that I would attempt to kill myself again. I didn't think I was going to be attempting to kill myself anytime soon though. But telling them that wouldn't stop them from doing all what they did. I wasn't even allowed to close my bedroom door now. It had to be wide open at all times. Yeah my mother was on a roll people. I was even surprised that she had sent me to Spar alone. Usually she didn't want me stepping even a foot out the house. Maybe she had seen how suffocated I was starting to feel. Being cooped up in the house all the time was not good especially for someone who had mental issues like me. We had to be moving around or we'll get depressed with all the thinking we did in our heads. Anyway, I took off my clothes and wore one of the king's t-shirt and I got into bed. I covered my nose with the tee and breathed in the king's scent closing my eyes. This time it took a long time for me to finally fall asleep because of all the thoughts that were roaming in my head. As I dozed off, the only thing that kept ringing in my mind, was that, the king was a killer..........
