Me: "M-Mama do I really have to? I mean I just arrived early on this morning and I'm tired as hell."
Mother: "Yes Khazimle you have to. Anga was like family to us. And when you were growing up, he always was there and looked after you. Have you forgotten now?"
Me: "No I-I..." I sighed... "I haven't forgotten Mama."
Mother: "You guys make quick. Your father and I we'll be waiting for you." She hung up. I groaned hitting my phone against my forehead. The king took it from me.
Me: "My mother wants us to go to Anga's and offer our condolences."
Kumkani: "I heard."
Me: "You did? Did you also hear me slip up?" He just nodded as he stood there looking down at me. I groaned shaking my head... "we can't go there. What if I slip up again and say something that would end up incriminating you?"
Kumkani: "A lot of questions will go around if you don't go little beauty. Everyone knew how close you two were." Lord! I hated that he was right. I closed my eyes groaning and I fell back on the bed... "hey beautiful look at me." I did... "everything will be fine."
Me: "It will?" He nodded... "you trust me not to slip up again?"
Kumkani: "I do."
Me: "Why?"
Kumkani: "Because I know you don't want anything happening to me." That's true.
Me: "Yeah." I took a deep breath... "okay. I can do this."
Kumkani: "Yes you can. Just be a grieving friend. You're still sad about his death aren't you?" I was. I nodded... "use that sadness and you'll be fine." He told me.
Me: "Will it be okay though if you also go?" I asked him... "I mean...will you be able to face Anga's parents?" He climbed on top of me and brushed my face as he looked me into my eyes.
Kumkani: "Facing his parents is nothing." He told me... "but if me being there will make things uncomfortable for you beautiful then I won't-."
Me: "No." I cut him off... "I want you there with me my King." His blank eyes stayed on mine and then they turned molten causing my heart kick up.
Kumkani: "As you wish wife."When we got to Anga's, a lot of police cars were parked outside the yard. Oh dearie! We had come at a wrong time. We got out of the car and went inside the house. Anga's mother was crying badly. There were like ten police officers in here. Some were sitting and some were standing. They all turned to us when we entered with some of them glaring at the king. Oh dearie! My mother and I sat down on the chairs available. After Anga's mother stopped crying, my mother said a few words of comfort while quoting a few scriptures and then she prayed. After prayer, Anga's mother waved me over to her and I went. She just took my hands in hers.
Her: "I'm glad you here Khazie my child." She told me... "Anga loved you, you know that? He always talked about how he would marry you when the time came." Oh Gosh! I said nothing to that because I mean...what the? ... "he must've been in great pain when he was dying with you getting married on the other side. My poor boy." She sniffed. I looked to the king. His face was void of emotion but his hands were fisted to his sides.
Anga's father: "Nokulunga don't say stuff like that." Nokulunga: "Then what must I say? Am I not speaking the truth Ayanda? You know how our son felt about Khazimle." She cried.
Ayanda: "Please forgive my wife. She's in great pain and grief." He said to the king. The king said nothing of course. As I sat there, the events that took place on that night, the night Anga kidnapped me, replayed in my mind and tears spilled out of my eyes. I cried not only crying for his death but I was also for what he did and almost did to me. Anga's mother pulled me into her arms and cried with me. It's a good thing she didn't know what kind of man her son had turned out to be in his last moments. It's good that she was going to have the best memory of him, unlike me. We were now leaving the house when suddenly one of the police officers asked to speak to the king on the side. I watched them closely as they spoke trying not to freak out.
Mother: "Do you know what's that about?" I shook my head... "then why do you look scared?" My perceptive mother!
Me: "It's nothing. Come, let's go wait in the car." I said pulling her with me towards the car... "where's Dad?"
Mother: "He's still talking with Anga's father. I think he will stay here a while longer." I nodded. That's understandable since they were best friends and everything... "how was the honeymoon?" Now I couldn't help smiling.
Me: "Great!" She chuckled a little.
Mother: "That great nhe?"
Me: "Yes! Oh Mama everything in Bali was so beautiful, so nice and so breathtaking. I wished I could stay there forever." I told her... "let me show you." I said taking out my phone excitedly and showed her the pictures.
Mother: "Ngendlela oncume ngayo kwezi pictures kuyabonakala bekumandi nyani mntanam and kuhle nyani." [The way you're smiling on these pictures it's clear that you had the time of your life.]
Me: "I really did Mama. I bought you guys tons of stuffs. I'll bring everything by the house later."
Mother: "It's nice to see you this happy. Kumkani is really the one for you."
Me: "Yes he is." I said smiling big. She made a face and I laughed hugging her arm... "Mama I wish I could stay as happy as I am now." I said after a short while.
Mother: "Me too baby...me too." The king came and we left. After dropping off my mother, with the promise that we'd come by the house tomorrow, we left.
Me: "What did you and that officer talk about?"
Kumkani: "Nothing you should worry yourself about."
Me: "What do you mean nothing-."
Kumkani: "My moon, when I say it's nothing, it's nothing. Trust me."
Me: "I trust you but I still want to know." He said nothing... "King don't be like this. Please tell me."
Kumkani: "No." What?
Me: "No? What do you mean no?"
Kumkani: "No. I won't tell you. The less you know the better." Bethuna!
Me: "Well, I'm not in agreement with that."
Kumkani: "Beautiful, it doesn't matter if you're in agreement or not. I still won't tell you, end of discussion." Oh my God! This son of a gun! I huffed angrily and looked out my window. He took my hand and put it on his lap. When I tried to remove it, he held it tightly. Mxm... "where are we going anyway?" I asked after a long while. The direction we were heading towards wasn't going to the hotel or his place.
Kumkani: "To see our new home." I turned to him.
Me: "Our new home?" I asked in surprise.
Kumkani: "Yes. Where we will love, fuck and raise our children in." Lendoda!
Me: "R-Really?"
Kumkani: "Yes my moon." I smiled happily. I couldn't wait to see it. Knowing the king I'm sure the house was marvelous. To be honest, I hadn't expected him to buy us a house. I know, stupid right? Thing is, I always imagined his place being our home even after we marry. His pad held a very special place in my heart. It was where I had felt the most free and safe in. It was where I had spent my days with the king. Even though I was happy that he bought us a house, I was going to miss his pad... "the house is one of many that my grandfather left for me. So it's already fully furnished." He told me... "but if you don't like the furniture, you can change it beautiful."
Me: "I'm sure I will like everything about the house." I told him. And I had been right. I liked everything about it. Actually, I was in love. It was a 4 story italianate mansion that had a waterfront. I run from room to room as I ahh'd in awe and jumped up and down squealing in happiness. Oh my God! I couldn't believe that this was our new home. The kitchen was to die for. It was a pity that I couldn't cook. But picturing my husband being in here as he cooked for me, really warmed my heart. There was a big lake by the backyard that separated us from the other houses. Epic, right? I know. There was a patio, a barbecue area, swimming pool and also a swing chair! Yes, a swing chair bethu. I was currently sitting on it swinging.
Me: "Come join me my King." I patted the space next to me and he did... "this is nice."
Kumkani: "I agree." He said pulling me to him. He placed a kissed my head and I cuddled into him breathing his scent.
Me: "Could we stay for a few weeks at your place before moving in here?" I requested after a while of bliss silence.
Kumkani: "Yes, of course my moon."
Me: "I'm just not ready to say goodbye to your place. Is that weird?"
Kumkani: "Not at all. Why would it be?"
Me: "I just feel..." I sighed not knowing how to explain how I felt.
Kumkani: "No need to explain. I understand beautiful."
Me: "You do?" I looked at him.
Kumkani: "Yes, because I feel the same way beautiful."
Me: "Really?" I asked smiling softly at him. He gave me a squeeze... "I love you." His eyes shined possessively.
Kumkani: "I love you more." And then he kissed me.We were almost by his place when 2 black Range Rovers came out of nowhere and blocked our way forcing the king to brake hard. Both of the cars had tinted windows. I looked back and my eyes bugged out when I saw that there were two more of them behind us. We were trapped. The king sighed next to me and dialed on his phone.
Kumkani: "What's the meaning of this Desmond?" The king laughed at whatever the person said on the other end. But it wasn't a nice laugh. It was menacing... "a talk? This seems more like a declaration of war than a talk ... Call off your men ... You will regret this. Don't say I didn't warn you." He hung up. Right after that, one of his other phones started to ring. He answered.
Kumkani: "No don't do anything. Just be on standby." He instructed whoever it was that called him and hung up. A man and a woman got out of one of the Range Rovers. The man was holding a gun.
Me: "King-."
Kumkani: "Don't be scared my moon. With me here with you, nothing will happen to you." He said wrapping his pinkie with mine. He got out and came around to open the door for me and I got out and he intertwined our hands.
The woman: "Killer we want no trouble-."
Kumkani: "Too fucking late for that." He cut her off... "for doing like this with my wife present, you are all dead." The woman swallowed and cleared her throat. I might have been seeing wrong but the man holding the gun seemed to be nervous.
The woman: "Your guns." She said holding out her hand.
Kumkani: "Take them from me if you can." Yeesh! The woman's flushed red with anger. She opened the back door.
The woman: "Get in." The king helped me in and he got in after me and then we were off......
