Kumkani: "Get out the car little beauty and don't look." I did as he said... "I'm sorry to do this to you but I need you to be brave for me little beauty, okay?"
Me: "O-Okay."
Kumkani: "Good girl." He praised... "now there are some people who are going to arrive there and take care of the body any second now." He told me... "you and your mother will go home with Zack, okay?"
Me: "Okay."
Kumkani: "I need to go. I will risk it and call you later. I love you." He hung up. And just like he said, people did arrive who were going to take care of the body a few seconds after he ended the call. There were 5 of them. I watched them as they worked in an orderly and precise manner. It was apparent that they were professionals. They were covered from head to toe wearing those white hazmats suits with the masks covering their whole faces. What I was seeing was like out of a movie, I tell you. My mother arrived just when they were loading Detective Olsen's body in the van that they had arrived in.
Mother: "Haibo Khazimle what happened?"
Me: "Someone tried to kidnap me and now he's dead." I heard myself say.
Mother: "What?!" Before I could elaborate a black Range Rover stopped next to us and two guys in black suits got out. "Hello Mrs Tetani, we are from the Secret Service." The first guy said flashing some kind of badge that I've never seen before to my mother... "a dangerous criminal that has been on our radar for quite some time now tried to kidnap your daughter and after we assessed the situation we had no choice but to neutralize him in front of her." He told her.... "we will be taking your car into our custody and we'll compensate you by giving you another one. We apologize for any inconveniences or grievances caused by us." The way my mother was so shocked about what she'd just been told, her mouth was literally hanging open. Secret Service? A criminal? But... "Is there anyone you can call that can take you both home?" Immediately after he asked that, Zack showed up. He led us to his car, and my mother and I got in as Zack went to go get our groceries from the boot of my mother's car and then after that we were off.My mother has been quiet this whole time. All I can say was that she was still in a lot of shock and so was I. I was still trying to process what happened since it all seemed to happen so fast.
Mother: "Khazimle mntanam tell me again what happened back there." She suddenly asked turning to me. I took a deep breath and I told her. But I, of course, omitted some parts of the story. I didn't tell her that I had known the man...that he had been a detective who had been after the king because the king was a killer and I also didn't tell her the king's involvement in this whole thing. I just told her that a man with a gun had grabbed me out of nowhere wanting to kidnap me but before he could do that, he was shot dead... "oh mntanam." She said pulling me into her arms... "why kusoloko kwenzeka izinto ezimbi kuwe?" She held me tightly as her body shook... "andifuni noyicinga into yokuba ngokwenzeke ntoni kuwe if khange bakusindise ababantu." I closed my eyes and breathed in her scent... "inoba wothukile ane?" She said pulling back... "I mean they did kill elarhamncwa phambikwakho." To be honest, I didn't know how I felt. Beside the fact that I was in shock, I felt nothing else. [Why do bad things always happen to you? I don't even want to think what I would've done if something had happened you if those people hadn't saved you. You must be in shock. I mean, they did kill that monster in front of you.]
Me: "I'm fine Mama."
Mother: "Are you sure? Maybe I should call Dr. Nongogo so you can have a chat with her?" I shook my head.
Me: "There's no need Mama. I'm really fine." She sighed and brushed my face as tears gathered in her eyes... "Mama don't cry. I'm fine, nyani."
Mother: "If anything would happen to you again Khazie mntanam... " She shook her head... "that would be the end of me."
Me: "Mama."
Mother: "No nyani. I would really die. There's only so much a mother can take when it comes to her children."
Me: "Mama-."
Mother: "If kunokwenzeka mntanam, ingaba uThixo undilahlekele nyani." My mother bethuna. For her to even say that, knowing how much she was such a God fearing woman, broke my heart into pieces. It was my turn now to pull her into my arms. [If something bad does happen to you again, then I will lose my faith in God.]
Me: "Nothing will happen Mama." I told her... "I've got guardian angels watching over me, so don't worry."
