Our hair was ruffled by a sudden breeze as our eyes locked. Picturesque.
My face heated up because of Deidara's piercing blue eyes practically looking through mine. I look away and we both giggle. The colors of the sunset continue to darken, thus changing the lighting and mood.
"How did you know about this place?" I ask, still stunned.
"A man's got to have his secrets~" he says slyly, "......On a mission with Sasori"
"Haha" I remark sarcastically.
I look back at him, how I want to reach out and hold his hand again.
"(Y/n)... look" Deidara says, hints of sensuality in his deep voice.
I internally praise the timing distracting from my awkward staring.
"Eh?" I question.
A fluorescent butterfly landed on my knee, it's delicate legs tickling my flesh. It fluttered its papery wings.
"Wow-" I say breathily.
"Told you it gets better-un!" Deidara boasts. A smug smile adorning his face.
The butterfly looks a bit like monarch, but the coloring was different. It's white with hints of blue and purple. The bits of blue and purple shine the brightest. All of it is surprisingly bright though. Truly gorgeous against the night sky.
As the sky further darkens, two or three more of the nocturnal insects emerge from the surrounding bushes. Soon the lighting is provided only by the celestial bodies above and glowing butterflies.
"They're so pretty" I say with awe in my voice.
"Yeah" Deidara says.
(Deidara pov)
(Y/n) smiles genuinely. I feel a smile growing on my face in response to hers. The cool lighting illuminates her features gorgeously.
Her eyes are filled with joy as she looks at the delicate insect, "They're so pretty"
"Yeah" my stomach twists and I tense up, "Almost as pretty as you"
"That was so dumb! So cliche and boring-"
"W-what?" She says shakily, "Um- you too"
My heart starts racing as I try to come up with a response. She looks at me adoringly. I laugh.
"Er- thanks" I say. No one's ever called me pretty before. It didn't register with me at first.
"That was so corny-" I add with a laugh.
"Only a little" (Y/n) says, smirking.
Just the sight of her face makes my heart so full.
(Y/n pov)
I turn my gaze back to Deidara's face. We stare into each others eyes once more. More butterflies emerge from the shrubs lighting up the sky even more.
All of the sudden, a big band could be heard in the distance coming from somewhere in the city. The muffled music drifted to where we were; I recognize the song as Sway.
(OK i love this song and I'd die to dance with a guy to it so that's what yall get sorry if you aren't into salsa/samba)
Either it's really loud or we didn't go as far as I thought we did. The latter is more likely the case.
