Teen Wolf- Heathens

Everything is heavy. I haven't slept in a while so it feels good to finally have gotten some sleep. I sat up looking around to find I'm in a room I've never been in before. No, that's not right. I have been here before. Only the house isn't burned. I got up walking out to see a woman sitting at the bottom of the stairs where I had my first kiss. Her hair is long, it goes right under her shoulders. she stood up and smiled at me.

"Hello, Skylar," she greeted me.

"Hello," I greeted her.

"Do you know who I am?" she asked.

"If I have to guess, by your eyes, I think you're Derek's mom,"

"You really are as smart as he thinks you are," she grinned.

"Am I dead?" I asked. She nodded. I let out a heavy sigh and walked down the stairs towards her. "That sucks,"

"You're not going to be here long," she smiled holding her hand out. "Come on. I want to show you something,"

I took her hand. She's warm. We stepped towards the living room only for it to change into a kitchen as we stepped through the threshold. There's a girl about my age standing by the kitchen island reading a book. I stepped back when Derek walked in holding a little boy in his arms. He said something to the girl but I didn't hear it. The girl laughed and took the boy from him. Derek turn back to look at me and smiled.

"Are you ready?" he asked.

"For what?" I looked over at his mom. She didn't answer.

A woman in a blue fitted dress walked over to him and placed a kiss on his cheek. I can't see her face but I can tell her belly is round, she's pregnant. She crouched down in front of the girl and the little boy and told them something. Derek grabbed her coat and put it over her shoulders as she got back. Her dark hair is long. It stops right above her waistline. It's curled and well maintained. I jumped back when she turned around to face me.

"What the fuck?" I whispered. Derek's mother laughed at my reaction.

"There are infinite possibilities of the future but most ultimately end the same,"

"What the hell is this?" I asked shaking my head.

"Whatever you want it to be," she answered. "I know it will take some time for you to accept such a drastic change in your life but there will come a time when you will both find peace in one another. You both will smile again, Skylar McCall. Grief is part of life and anger is part of accepting what's happened,"

She cupped my face tenderly. She took my hand and led me towards the door. As soon as we were outside we were out in the middle of nowhere. The house disappeared behind us. It's dark and it's raining. I know this place. How can I ever forget? This is the place that gave me everything I have today.

"I want to get a tattoo," Scott's voice echoed in my ears. He had started me and I spilled some flour on the counter.

"What?" I asked.

"Something like this," he traced his fingers in the flour.

"Circles?" I laughed.

"Bands," he grabbed his arm. "Two of them,"

I stepped forward in the direction Scott and I had run in when Peter attacked us. I had tripped over some roots. The stump I had fallen over is right here. I looked down at it to see the circles Scott had traced in the flour when he told me what he wanted to get. I pulled my sleeve up to reveal them on my arm. It's the nemeton. She's gone. I'm alone now.
