Phantogram- Turn It Off

We decided that telling mom we got bit by some wild animal was not a good idea. Since we live with a nurse it was easy to disinfect our wounds and cover them up after a nice warm shower. I handed Scott two ibuprofens and penicillin tablets. I took the same. We both slept with our bathroom doors open just in case something happened or we needed one another.

In the morning, we didn't wake mom up to give us a ride to school. I helped Scott change the gauze and he changed mine. He got on his bike and waited for me to come down with my longboard. There is no way I'm going to be able to use this properly but at least he can haul me to school. A little pain is a lot better than getting grounded and outing Stiles for leaving us in the middle of the woods late at night after being caught by the cops himself.

He stopped at the bike racks. I bent down to grab my board when a car pulled up right next to us. No other than douche face, Jackson Whittmore got out of the shiny car his parents got him this year. He opened the door far enough to smack Scott with it.

"Hey, watch the paint job," he had the audacity to say to my brother.

"Yo, Jackson. Let's go, bro," someone called out to him. I looked over at his douche mobile contemplating giving it a good smack with my board and telling him to watch my brand new bone rubber sector nine wheels.

"Hey, not worth it," Scott placed his hand on my wrist like he knew what I was thinking. I smirked in his direction making him laugh.

-I have to go. I will see you later. Make sure you get your homeroom teacher to give you the semester renewal form for your work permit-

"You went a little fast but I got it. Work slip thing," I laughed.

-Close enough- I rushed towards the school running past Stiles.

"Stop running. You can get hurt," Stiles shouted.

I flipped him off as I ran into the building. I got to my locker and put my board and backpack in it. I grabbed a notebook, a pen, and my earbuds before I went over to the front office to get my schedule.

Usually, I go straight to my homeroom teacher but the principal had asked my mom to tell me that I need to talk to him today. I hope they don't put me in a special class again. Just because I can't speak out loud doesn't mean I'm mentally challenged. I have the highest test scores in the school. I knocked on the top of the counter to get the secretary's attention. She looked up at me and smiled.

"Skylar McCall?" she asked and I nodded. "This way, sweetie. He's waiting for you,"

She walked me to his office. Principal Thorne is your average nerdy-looking older man. Blonde hair slicked to the side, glasses, and the ugly sweater vest that goes over his high collar button up. I can't tell but I am one hundred percent sure he's wearing khakis. No offense Jake from State Farm.

"Skylar?" I nodded. "Come on in. Take a seat,"

"Have fun," the secretary whispered before walking away.

I sat down in front of the principal's desk. I have never been here before and it kind of feels like I'm in trouble. So I wrote it down in my notebook and held it up to show him. It took him a second to look in my direction but he chuckled when he read my message which settled my nerves a little. That means no.

"No, you're not in trouble, Skylar. Can I call you Sky?" I nodded. "Sky, you took a placement test right before the break and I have to say that I am very impressed. You scored higher than any other student in your class. In fact, you scored higher than some of my seniors,"
