Isaac Lahey // Don't You Worry Child

Gideon is sitting in front of the door leading into the cellar of the house. He's barely able to keep himself awake. There are dents protruding upward as if someone had tried to punch their way out of the metal door. He was able to barricade it just fine but it looks like he had struggled for a while.

"Hey," I whispered. He looked up at me startled. "It's morning. He should be fine now. I'm sorry it took me so long to come find you. It's been a really long night,"

"Same," he nodded. "You okay?" he asked pointing at my top. I looked down to see Boyd's on me. "Are you hurt?"

"It's not my blood," I reassured him. His eyes shot up to mine worriedly. "I didn't kill anyone. We lost someone,"

"Who?" he whispered.

"Boyd," I choked out.

"Vernon Boyd?" he asked. I nodded.

"I'm so sorry," he placed his hand over mine. I wiped my face and stood up.

"Let's check on him,"

"Okay," he nodded. He unlocked the chain and tried to pull the doors open. I smiled at him and pulled them open myself. They had gotten stuck from all the hits it's taken. He looked at me and grinned. "All those times you asked me to help you, you were doing it just keep a facade?"

"No, I was doing it so you could come closer," I smirked. He laughed.

"Noted," he nodded.

We both slowly made our way down to the cellar to see his brother curled up in the corner crying. I held my hand out stopping Gideon from getting any closer. The intoxicating scent of his fear has permeated the air in here. My mouth is watering. I don't mean to relish in the taste of it but I've never been around someone like this.

"Cash right?" I asked gently. He scooted away from me before glancing at me very briefly. Both of his arms are chained the way I had instructed Gideon to chain him up.

"What's happening to me?" he sobbed. I knelt down in front of him and reached for the chains. He pulled back shaking his head. "No, I can still feel it. I don't want to hurt anyone again,"

"It's okay, Cash. I won't you hurt me. It's morning. The sun is coming up," I reassured him. "I know you're scared. I'm here to help you,"

"Who are you?" he asked.

I let my instincts take over and flashed him my eyes. His bottom lip quivered before he jumped on me wrapping his chained arms around my body. I didn't expect that but I understand it. I hugged him back and let him cry until he was able to calm down.

"You're okay," I reassured him. "My name is Skylar,"

"What is happening to me, Skylar? Why am I like this?" he asked. I looked back at Gideon who just shrugged.

"How many times have you turned?" I asked.

"This is the second time," he sniffled.

"You don't remember how you got like this?" I asked. "Were you attacked by someone like us? Bitten or scratched?"

"There was this girl at a bar back in Jersey," he wiped his face. "We went back to my place and we were making out. This guy came in and he, uh, he tried to kill me. I think he was her boyfriend and he scratched my back. They left me there. I thought I was dying. A week later I-" he covered his face and began to cry. "I killed my neighbor. I don't remember anything but I knew I had done it because I was covered in his blood. I called Michael and he got rid of everything,"
