"Mom said M.I.T. came to talk to you," Scott walked into my room as I braided my hair back.

Mom had been upset with him but after Mr. Argent shot a mountain lion that was running around the parking lot while I threw up in the girl's restroom she pretty much just made him promise he'd try harder. That's the story of our lives. We never really get grounded.

"Yep," I answered without looking back at him.

"Sky, I'm sorry," he walked in and shut the door behind him. "I was just trying to protect you,"

"No, you were hiding the fact that Allison's dad might kill you. You were trying to keep me from telling you just how stupid it is for you to be dating her," he sighed falling onto my bed.

"Yeah, that too," I tied the end of my braid with a ribbon and sat down next to him.

"Scott, I'm not going to tell you that. Mostly, because you've never really made bad decisions. I know how much you like her. I just need you to be careful. I don't want him to hurt you or her," he sat up looking over at me.

"So, M.I.T.?" I laughed playfully pushing him with my arm.

"I threw up. That's why I missed Mr. Argent shooting the mountain lion. I wish I could have seen that," he laughed.

"Why'd you throw up?"

"Because I was super excited. I'm just glad I didn't wolf out," we both laughed.

"You threw me under the bus," he accused. I laughed.

"You lied to me, you hid things from me, and you almost got yourself killed. Now we're even," he smiled. "Where were you?"

"It was Allison's birthday. I took her to the spot we used to go when mom and dad fought," I shook my head.

"You sap,"

"Shut up," he laughed. "I have to go to the grocery store for mom. Want to come?"

"No, I have to get to the shop. I ordered some parts for Martin and I have to sign off on them," he nodded.

"Want a ride?"

"Sure," I grabbed my satchel. "Hey, have you seen my longboard?"

"You still haven't found it?" I shook my head.

Once he dropped me off I unlocked the front desk and walked inside. I started cleaning up. It wasn't long before the delivery truck showed up. I was carrying the boxes he unloaded inside when a woman came over to help me.

"You are way too young to be out here on your own," she said. I smiled at him hoping she wasn't going to rob me. There's something familiar about her. Like I've seen her somewhere but I just can't remember where.

"Thank you," I said when we finished putting everything inside.

"You're Skylar McCall. Everyone has been talking about how you got your voice back," my face flared. "What did you take?"

"Medicine. Some herbal teas. Licorice root and peppermint," her eyes stayed on me.

"Would you happen to have some left over?" I shook my head. "Forgive me. I have a nephew who doesn't speak much,"

"I'm sorry to hear that," she smirked at me.

"I was told that a different kind of plant was used for this specific kind of treatment. Monkshood, it's a plant with pink flowers. You don't use the flowers you use the-"
