LISA POV

My shoulder got better each day. Slowly. But it did. Too slow for my liking though. I must have really messed it up badly when it took me that long to heal. After a week though, I was well enough to take Jennie to the stream on my own, carrying her carefully like she was my bride.

Which, if you thought about it, she kind of really was. Minus the married part. But she was my mate and I was hers.

I took her to the stream twice a day. In the morning and in the evening. Jennie was still sleeping. I did not want to say 'unconscious' every time because to me she was just sleeping. For the past few days, everytime I took my little witch into the water, I was able to feel her emotions again. She sent warm affectionate waves my way but I did not know wether she did it on purpose or not. Maybe she was trying to communicate but was still too weak to do it with words. I really hoped she felt my presence and knew that she was safe with me.

"I've been feeling this... constant...pressure... in my chest lately. It's like... aching... but not like I'm sick. Does the book say anything about that maybe?" I looked over at Jisoo who sat on a rock at the water's edge while I gently swayed Jennie through the serene waves. I dropped a kiss to her cheek, her nose and then lightly to her lips. I did not care anymore if anyone saw how soft I had become because of her. My only goal now was to help my mate wake up from this slumber.

Ever since I had told the girls the truth between Jennie and me, Jisoo had made a 180 turn in her attitude towards me. The second she realized that I wasn't just messing around with Jennie, but had real genuine feelings, she began to raid her little library. Jisoo used to love reading when we had the time to just live in the moment. Before we came to this bloody forest and got lost in it.

She remembered a book that she had, that was filled with stories and 'myths' as they called it, about all sorts of magical creatures. There was hardly anything in it about witches, except that they could grow insanely powerful and nobody really knew the extent of their powers. Especially when they reached a high age. Witches weren't immortal but they could live up to a thousand years old.

But there was a little more in it about the faye kind. My kind. Jisoo told me that there was a short story in it about the soulmate magic. We had no idea who had written that book and wether it was based on facts or rumours, but it was all we had.

Jisoo turned a page, frowning. "Hm... it does mention that the absence of your soulmate can result in slight physical discomfort. Like, if you're apart for too long..."

"Yeah, that's kind of what I figured..."

Jisoo looked at us sympathetically. "Do you think she feels it too?"

"I hope not. She should be focusing on healing and waking up soon..."

"Do you feel anything from her now?"

"She likes the water...  and I don't feel any pain coming from her anymore..."

"That's good." the older girl nodded to herself, eyes back on her book.

We heard excited steps coming towards us and soon I saw Chaeyoung skip over to us with a completely smitten smile on her face.

"What's gotten you so happy this morning?" I asked her, looking up at my best friend. She sat down next to Jisoo but kept smiling and kicking her legs. She grabbed Jisoo's hand, making her look into her eyes and then looking over at me in the water.

"Jackson asked me to marry him!" She breathed out way too fast and made a squealing noise right after. My eyes went wide.

That bastard! He did not even tell me that he planned to propose to Chaeng!
