LISA POV
Chaeyoung did not speak still. When we all came back from our bath in the river, we realized that Namjoon and J-hope had spent the whole morning digging up a grave for our fallen leader. They stopped shoveling and stood up, bowing their heads when Chaeyoung walked past them.
I saw her eyes flashing over the hole in the ground and she began walking even faster, through our little camp, disappearing behind it. I motioned with my eyes for Jisoo to follow her but I didn't actually need to instruct her because the dark-haired girl wouldn't have left her friend alone anyway.
My own stomach turned when I saw the grave they dug and my grief overtook for a minute. Someone touched my arm from behind and I knew it was Jennie. My head turned to look at her. She returned my gaze deeply. "I know..." She just said, feeling everything that I was feeling.
I felt deeply sad about Jackson being ripped away from us like this, yet I didn't allow myself to fully feel the sadness and the grief because there was a huge responsibility pushing down my shoulders to keep everyone else in this group alive.
We had made it out of the forest, yes. But we were still in danger. We found ourselves in unknown territory. We didn't know if anyone had a claim on this land or not and would hunt us for intruding. We hardly had any food left and looking at the plain grass fields surrounding us, it would be days until we found something that could sustain us.
I deemed myself to be one of the protectors of this group and as a protector it was my job now to make sure we survived.
"It's not just your burden Lisa! We all stick together and make sure we survive!" Jennie grabbed my arm harder now, her eyes flashed at me in infinity colours for a second.
I felt my inner self wanting to fall apart so bad but I just couldn't let it happen. That was not who I was, I told myself and got an eyeroll from Jennie for my thoughts. At least she understood me. Even if she didn't always like what was going on in my head. She understood.
We had gotten used to it rather quickly that there were no secrets between us anymore. With the soulmate magic that bound us together, it was impossible to hide any thoughts or feelings from one another. Jennie had access to my powers and vice versa. That meant she was able to read my feelings just like I read hers.
She was a mind fairy's mate. That's just how things worked.
"We should burry him." J-hope spoke up loudly to get mine and Jennie's attention. "As much as I'd like to take him with us to somewhere safe... he's gone and his body will only attract wild animals... or worse things..." He threw Jennie a dark look like she should know of all the horrors that could come after a dead body.
"I know." I told him, sighing. "Jisoo will bring her back and then... we can do it..."
He nodded at me with glassy eyes and I just gave back the sentiment. Every single one of us was hurting. But we had to keep living. We had to move on. Somehow.

I sat on the ground in front of Jennie and my tent. It felt like I've been sitting there for hours. The boys had wrapped Jackson into blankets and had laid him down next to his final resting place. We were just waiting for his widow to come back and join us.
Jennie sat together with Suga a couple of meters away from me. I could faintly hear them talk but I didn't listen. My eyes swept over the line of trees that we had stumbled through just last night. It all felt like a long nightmare. It was beginning to get dark slowly and I noticed some fireflies swirling around the edges of the forest. An owl was howling in the distance and the more twilight crept in, the more the crickets started chirping away.
