LISA POV
The decision was made not to wait any longer but to get out of this forest as fast as possible. Jennie thought that there might be teeny tiny chance, that if we got out of the forest's grasp, the curse would also let Jackson go. It was a hard guess. A flimsy theory at best. She didn't tell the others so they wouldn't get their hopes up but she had discussed the idea with me. That, maybe, just maybe, the curse wouldn't or couldn't persevere outside of the forest's dark magic shield.
We had to get a move on. Fast. As the faye elder had told us, we now knew that we had to fight the forest itself in order to get out.
And that meant one thing: We had to be ready for it. We had to train.
The fairy camp ground was turned into a practice battle field.
J-hope was showing Chaeyoung how to handle a sword. He had taught her how to hold it and how to lean her weight into a stab so she would do some damage to whatever the forest would throw at us.
So far, we only knew about the wolves. We didn't know if there were any other magical creatures the forest could conjur up. There was also the hallucinogenic fog but by now I was sure that I could handle it, should it come back.
Suga was currently showing Jisoo and Namjoon how to aim and throw a knife at an opponent. They used a tree as target. Jisoo had gotten quite good at it. Her learning curve was impressive. Watching her progress, I kinda got the feeling that maybe she had the same motivation as I did. To get the girl who meant most to us, out of this damn forest so we could have a somewhat normal life.
A little sideways, away from all the knife throwing and sword swinging, Jennie and I had our little training space. It looked a lot different from the offense battle training the others were involved in.
My little witch and I sat at the little well that was providing the fairy circle with drinking water. Jennie lifted bubbles of water up into the air and let them swirl around my hand without touching it. She had made me close my eyes.
We started with the very basics. The concept of Jennie's witch powers was a little more complex than my powers. It was a struggle. It really was. But Jennie was patient and I tried hard to stay calm even if I didn't get the hang of things immediately. The lives of the friends around us depended on us. I couldn't afford to slack off or be frustrated this time.
"Get a feel for it first Lili. Feel it around you and if you think you got it, tell me."
She guided me to feel the water as it was evasively playing around my hand. I felt its' energy surrounding me and I let myself feel until I was sure I could follow the water around with my hand even if I didn't see it.
"Ok, do it." I told Jennie without opening my eyes.
I could instantly tell that she moved the magic bubbles of water further away from me because the feeling became more faint. I took a deep breath, clearing my mind even more and tried to feel where it had gone.
The first few times I didn't succeed and Jennie unexpectedly let the ball of water burst right above my head, soaking my hair and shoulders completely.
"What the fuck Jen!?" I sputtered, wiping the water out of my face and opening my eyes to glare at my mate who just shrugged. "You took too long."
"What? I took too long? You gotta let me fucking try!" I spat back disbelievingly. I wasn't exactly mad at her but still she had to give me at least a little time!
