Jermaine POV
I sat in the studio tapping the pen on my notepad. I swung in the chair as I waited for Teyana to meet me here. She told me she wanted to talk about something. I knew she wanted to talk about Amir and go deeper into it.
The only problem I have with that is that why go deeper. It doesn't need that truthfully. She's making it more complicated than it needs to be.
I'm taking this responsibility head on and I really want too. Amir just not becoming my son now; Amir has been my son since my brother asked me. I'm just getting my shit together legally.
I feel like no one would be a better father for him than I can. My mother has taking care of him since he was boring basically. He actually calls her Mima, because she has always told him that she's his grandmother but a special one. So they came up with that name.
I truly believe that the heart of a father is the masterpiece of nature. A boy needs a father to show him how to be in the world. He needs to given knowledge, taught how to read a map so that he can recognize the roads that lead to life and the paths that lead to death, how to know what love requires, and where to find steel in the heart when life makes demands on us that are greater than we think we can endure.
Much of life, fatherhood included, is the story of knowledge acquired too late: if only I'd known then what I know now, how much smarter, and stronger, I would have been. Nothing prepares you for kids, for the swells of emotions you feel when you first see them or how you feel when you have to build up the endurance for each and every task. Such a small person yo! Yet it takes so much more to keep the whole enterprise going. Only way we learn is by figuring it out alone, and even then it changes us. It's a fancy way of saying that we're doing things we technically don't know how to approach.
"Wus Good?" I asked her as she walked in and sat at the couch in front of me.
"Wassup" she proudly smiled.
"Where the rest of your clothes?" I asked as I noticed she had on a see through green shirt with green pants and leather jacket, but she unzipped the leather jacket and she didn't have on a bra.
"I'm fully clothed" she replied
"Where's your bra? Stop fucking disrespecting me"
"What you mean?" She laughed "boy I had it zipped up the whole time, trust me, you the only one checking for me"
"Whatever son" I said and got up out my chair and sat beside her "what's up"
"Nothing" she replied back.
"Like what you need to talk about?"
"I'm totally aware that I'm exaggerating but I just don't understand how this is going to work"
"What? us?" I asked her and she rapidly shook her head no.
"You, me, and your son"
"A family" I joked and she rolled her eyes "how do you want to work?"
"I don't know"
"Well let me know when you get a chance"
"Jermaine this isn't funny" she said and I looked at her to see this was really bothering her. The Unbothered Queen is Bothered by a little baby.
"Yo what you want me to do" I said "that's my son and you're my girl, you aren't his mommy and you don't have to play that part but I just need you to be here for me like you always are "
She nodded and got up, walking over to me and sitting on my lap "I wasn't going no where"
"Yeah you was thinking about it" I laughed then grabbed my glass of Jack Daniels. She smacked in the back of neck as I almost spit out my drink. She then wiped my mouth. Bipolar Ass.
