The Reunion: Keith x Male!Reader

Chapter 28: One last time

"(Y/N)!"

My head shot up, Pidge stood before me. Panic written all over her face.  It wasn't long before her arms were wrapped around my shoulders. " Where the hell did you go?! We were all so worried!"

I tried to wrap my mind around everything. "I...." The words seemed to struggle in your throat, "I don't know." Was all I could manage to breath out.  There was a moment of silence before Pidge used her radio to contact the others. It wasn't long before everyone was present.  I swarmed with questions and worried expressions.

"Okay, Okay! Everyone calm down for a moment please!" Everyone went quiet, all eyes were on me. "I don't know what just happened nor where I went. All I know is that there was a field and a woman, I think her name was Yona."

Coran and Allura shared a look of shock. "That isn't possible." The princess stated.

"You know who he is talking about?" Shiro raised an eyebrow.

"Yona was the last shadow. The last Altean to hold Kage."

"Yeah, that sounds about right." I sighed, "She did give me these though." I opened my hand, showing everyone the seven rings, "She told me to give these to those that I cared for most." I hand one ring to each of the paladins. They took them, sliding them on to their fingers. I held the final two out the Allura and Coran. Coran took his, but Allura seemed to hesitate. I smiled, "I know that you and I aren't very close, but I want you to have this." Slowly, Allura takes the ring I offered.

I clapped my hands together and smiled, "Alright, let's go end a war!" Everyone started heading to where they needed to be. All except Keith.

"Are you okay?"

"Of course, why wouldn't I be."

Keith stepped closer and grabbed my wrist. He examined the marks, marks that were still spreading. "How long?"

"Keith I'm Fin--"

"HOW LONG?!"

I sighed, "Keith, I..." I looked at him. His hair covered his eyes, his jaw clenched shut. His hands shaking. I laid my forehead on his shoulder. "This will be my final fight... I don't think I have that much left in me anyway." I laughed, "At the very least, I'll get to see this through to the end." 

My heart twisted when I felt the first drop of water land on my shoulder and hands wrap around me. We just stood there, the silence saying more than either of could have said out loud. It was heavy and the longer we stood there, the more I realized that I didn't want to leave everyone. Not yet. I wanted to spend time with them, make new memories to make up for those I lost. 

I want to cook with Hunk and Ava. I want to learn more about technology from Pidge. I want to goof off with. I want to watch Izaya and Dallin find their way in a universe without war. I want to try and mend things with Allura and listen to Coran's stories. I want to free my siblings from Uriel. I want to spend time with Shiro and learn more about what Earth was like. I want to improve myself and say all that I wish I could say to Keith.

As I sit here in scilence, I realise that all I really want right now.... is to live.

So just one last time, before this life of mine comes to an end. Just let have this moment with Keith. Let me have this chance to say goodbye.
