~(Y/N)'s POV~

Kiren and I approached the doors, blades already drawn. Under my mask my brows were frowned, my teeth bared as the guards went to stop us from entering. Kiren and I cut them down with very little effort. The Galra on this planet were use to using the people abilities to their advantages. So they were less dangerous then those you would find on other planets.  We entered, fighting off any of the soldiers that approached, both us not caring how subtle we were. The place was large, decorated childishly. As I looked around a picture caught my eye. An image of nine children, all looking happy. As I studied I noticed two of the faces had been scratched away and the others were all so familiar.

I turned to Kiren, "We need to find them quickly--" I was cut of the ground shifting. Before I knew it, we were falling. My body crashed to the ground Kiren beside me. "Welcome everyone! It looks like we have new contestants!" Lights shown down on us, blinding me for a moment. When I regained my vision, I looked around. We were trapped in a room, a pillar in the middle with strange characters on the side. "What the hell?" Kiren slowly sat up, groaning, "What is going on?" I ignored him, walking up to the pillar, reading the words written in it, " 'Five challenges lay ahead. Five deaths you shall prevent. Follow the rules, play the game, leave with your prizes... and your life.'"

The half Altean walked over to me, "What?" I looked over my shoulder, "It's a rough translation. I haven't read this langue in years." Kiren went to speak again, but was cut off by the same crazed female voice we had heard when we fell, "Now, lets show them what they are playing for!" Five images got projected on to screens in the room. The first was Shiro, bond and gagged, hangging above a fiery pit. Next was Hunk, the yellow paladin trapped in a glass container of some kind. Pidge looked as though they were locked in a cage and Lance sat bound in the corner of a small room. The last, was Keith, and when I saw him I felt my breath get caught in my throat. The red paladin was chained to a bed, looking barely conscious. deep cuts littered his body, his breathing heavy.

I felt rage serge through my body. I was going to kill the person who was hurting them, and it was going to be painful. All of the paladins were in danger, we need to save them, for the universes sake, and for theirs. "Let them go!!" Kiren yelled, his eyes seemingly focused on Lance. A laugh sound, "Now, now~ Where would be the fun in that! This is a game!" Pieces began to click together, the photo, the voice, the planet.... this insane game of life and death. The realization made me feel conflicted slightly. "What are the rules?" I asked, I could feel the smirk without needing to see it, "It's simple! Solve the challenges as instructed. No cheating. Oh and take of your masks."

"Why the hell would we do that?!" Kiren argued. I just did as instructed, pulling my hood down, putting my mask away. "Do as she says. If you break her rules the consequences will be far worse." Kiren reluctantly removed his own mask and hood, "This is stupid! Just use your shadow travel shit and let's get them and get out." I shook my head, looking back at each one of the screens. "No. We play by her rules. We break a single one and we won't have any chance of saving the others. Isn't that right... Ava?" A sixth screen turned on, revealing a more grown up version of the little girl I knew so long ago.

She gave us a twisted grin and laughed. Her yellow snake like eyes sparkling with a dangerous and psychotic light. "Of course. I'm so glad you remember how my games work..... big brother."
