"WATCH OUT!" Harley screamed out as Batman launched himself at Joker.

Harley shoved herself forward and threw Joker out of the way.

She cried out as Batman instead hit her, sending her flying into a wall.

As she struggled to pick herself back up, her bat flew through the air and struck her in her head.

Everything went dark as Joker and Batman fought in the background, unaware of her state.

*Harley's POV*

My eyes fluttered open as I slowly woke up. My vision didn't focus fully so all I could do to tell what my surroundings were was the beeping of machines and the feeling of wires and needles in my arms.

I tried sitting up and groaned in pain as a headache rushed my head and my body ached.

I blinked until I could see and saw a doctor walking towards my room. He smiled hesitantly and entered the room.

"Ah, Ms.Harley, you're awake." He said, walking and sitting beside me. I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Harley? My name's Harleen, I hate that nickname." I spoke up. He looked at me surprised, and...confused?

"Yes, that's my bad, I'll just be a moment." He said quickly before leaving the room.

I waited for what felt like eternity but was probably only like 10 minutes.

He came back into the room, followed by a younger female nurse.

"Ok, Ms.Harleen, we just have a few questions for you if you feel like you're able to answer." He stated, sitting down.

I shifted around in the bed, uncomfortable with them both staring at me. Why was I even here?

I nodded after a second. He smiled. "Great, so do you know why you're here?" He asked.

I shook my head no. He nodded and wrote something down.

"What do you last remember?" He asked next. I frowned and tried thinking.

I remembered moving here and getting the job at Arkham but I don't remember anything past my first day of working.

"Uhm...I remember moving here, to Gotham, and starting my job at Arkham, but I only remember my first day. And it was just paperwork, I wasn't assigned anything big like promised." I said, rolling my eyes at the last part.

He nodded and exchanged glances with the nurse. "Ok, so you don't remember anything from the past uhm, year?" He asked hesitantly.

I shook my head then paused. "Year? How long have I lived in Gotham?" I asked, feeling panic set in.

He glanced over at the nurse who shrugged. "You've lived here for a little over a year..." He answered. I sat there in shock. A year? I don't remember anything at all.

He stood. "Nurse, please send out for a CT and an MRI for Ms.Quinzel. I think you know what I believe is wrong." He said before walking out. The nurse walked over and turned some of the machines off.

"Wait, is something wrong? How did I even get here?" I asked.

She looked down at me, sorrow in her eyes. Why did she feel sorry for me?

"You got into a bad accident, and we believe you have amnesia, some more tests will conclude. That and time will tell, you can't seem to remember anything at all which is surprising, seeing your uhm, life choices over the year."

"Life choices? How do you know that?" I asked, even more confused. She hesitated.

"Uh, you made it to the news a few times, because of..." She trailed off. "Your job! Yes, you became a little well known because of your position at Arkham." She quickly said.

I frowned but nodded. I don't remember anything but I guess I proved myself at Arkham. The nurse wheeled me out of the room as we did the tests the doctor requested.

It was the end of the day and I was exhausted. I was dozing off when I heard voices outside of my room. I opened my eyes as the door opened to reveal the nurse.

"Sorry to bother you, someone is here to speak to you, is that ok?" She asked.

I desperatly wanted sleep but I nodded, it was the end of the day, probably the last thing of the day. Hopefully.

She smiled and opened the door wider, letting someone walk in. He was tall and built and.....dressed like a bat?

I frowned and tried not to laugh as he walked into the room and shut the door behind him.

"Uhm, hi?" I said. He stared at me.

"You have no idea who I am do you." He asked, his voice way to deep to take seriously.

I muffled a giggle and cleared my throat. "Uh, no idea." I said. He nodded.

"Well it looks like you lost your memory, so I'll be taking you somewhere to stay while we figure things out." He said.

I frowned. "What about my apartment?

"You've lost your apartment, and I'm guessing everything you moved here with." He said gruffly.

I frowned. "Everything? What happened, was there a fire? Did someone rob me?" I scrambled to sit up.

He held a hand out to quiet me and shook his head.

"No. No fire, no robbery, it's a long story, just please come with me and I'll explain everything." He stated.

There was no emotion with this guy. I frowned. I was hesitant but it also seemed like I had no choice whether I went or not.

I just nodded and laid back as he walked out to talk to the doctors. I laid there confused.

I didn't remember anything and I was just told a whole year passed and that I lost all my belongings and my apartment. And now I was leaving with some grown man dressed like a bat.

What the fuck.

Before I could think anything else the door opened to the guy again and a few nurses.

They unhooked anything hooked to me and started wheeling in a wheelchair.

They lifted me from the bed to the wheelchair. I insisted I could walk but they all said I shouldn't so I huffed and accepted it.

The Batman guy took the wheelchair and wheeled me out to a weird looking car.

"The ride might be uncomfortable if you're in pain but it's all I have." He grunted out as he helped me into the passenger seat.

I just stayed quiet. The car was low to the ground and inside felt like a rollercoaster or video game. He helped strap me in and jumped into the driver's side.

"Hang on." He said. I nodded.

He pressed on the gas and we shot forward. I shrieked a little at the sudden movement.

I settled back as I got used to it, still a little wary but I was in no place to say anything.

Especially to a man dressed as a bat....

We started taking side and back roads and ways that looked sketchy.

"Close your eyes."

"What why?" I asked.

"Just close them." He grunted out.

I rolled my eyes and closed them as we sped forward. I felt us slow down and an audible rumble outside of the car that I could feel on the ground.

We slowed to a stop and I heard him get out so I assumed I could look. I opened my eyes to see...

A cave?

Where the fuck was I.
