Saturday:
I woke up to the singing of birds and the soft wind. I smiled and stretched. It was the best way to start the morning.I grabbed a casual Saturday outfit. Black skinny jeans, a blue and gray dressy tank top and Blue DC shoes. I threw my hair into a messy side braid and applied lip gloss, not bothering with make up. I eyed myself with satisfaction and went downstairs.
"Good morning honey," Mom greeted me as she stood by the oven, making omelets. She placed a sizzling omelet on a plate and slid it over towards me.
I was half done eating when Mason came clattering down the stairs.
"Morning." I greeted him.
"Good morning. Ruth, what have you planned for today?" He asked.
"Um.. I'm hanging out with Alex. Why?" I answered.
"Austin, James and me are hanging out and I was wondering if you wanted to join us." Mason suggested.
"I don't know. I could maybe ask Alex. But that's only 2 girls and 3 guys." I replied.
"Oh, Austin was talking about his cousin Lexi." Mason answered.
"Well I could also ask Emily." I stated.
He shrugged. "Go ahead."
I texted Emily if she wanted to join us but she had plans. I frowned. "Emily has other plans." I informed Mason.
"Then I'll tell Austin to bring his cousin." Mason took out his phone.
"Wait." I interrupted. "I first want to know if Alex even wants to hang out with you guys."
He nodded and I texted Alex.
"Morning! Mason asked me if we wanted to hang out with him and his friends today."
A few minutes later I got a reply.
"Sounds like fun! Who all?"
Ruth: "Austin, James and Mason. And Austin's cousin Lexi."
Alex: "Awesome! I'm all in!"
I frowned. I thought she hated James. I shrugged and replied.
"Ok great! I'll let you know if we will pick you up or if you should just come over."
Alex: "Great!"
"OK so Alex is all for it." I told Mason.
"Great, I'll let Austin know to bring Lexi." He replied and took his phone.
"So what are you planning to do?" I asked curiously.
"I think we will go for rides on dirt bikes and maybe go to the beach and after that come back to our pool." He answered casually.
I gaped at him. "Did I hear you say dirt bikes?"
He nodded.
"Im not climbing on that thing." I declared.
"Come on Ruth." He whined.
I shook my head and watched as Mom handed him an omelet.
He ate quickly and I watched him, tapping my fingers on the table.
A cheerful Abigail came running down the stairs. She had a huge grin on her face and she grabbed an omelet.
"What's up with you?" I asked.
