Attachment song: "Can't Say No" by Dan + Shay
I hope you guys enjoy this chapter! :-) Happy Reading. --Yoli-Saturday-
Me: I think I can do it. If I don't imagine the screams of joy. :-\
Austin: Relax Ruth. You'll be fine. :-*
I smiled and stuffed my phone into my pocket, just as Mom yelled, "Lunch ready. Come on down and eat!"
"Here goes." I muttered and shouted a "coming!" back before running downstairs.
"Mm yum. Tacos. Looks great, Mom." I complimented her and she smiled.
--------------------------------------------
When the last fork was laid down, I finally cleared my throat nervously and looked down at my hands, twirling my fingers.
"Guys, I have some news to share." I announced and mentally punched myself. Lame way to start.
"Go on." Mom probed while Mason and Abby waited impatiently.
"So yesterday, on our date, Austin asked me to be his girlfriend." I paused as Abby squealed. She suddenly sat down on her chair with a thump and glared at me. "You better have said yes." She warned.
"Nope, I declined." I answered and rolled my eyes when Abby's jaw dropped. "I'm kidding. Of course I said yes." I finished with a smile and waited for them to calm down.
"And yes, I know it's a bit soon but we liked each other and we didn't know why wait."
"I'm happy for you Honey." Mom smiled and patted my hand.
"So now we are supposed to listen to you guys doing the disgusting at night?" Mason asked and I gasped, kicking him hard in the knee.
"No you asshole." I huffed and sheepishly looked at Mom when she shook her head.
"Just saying. Congrats sis." Mason smiled goofily and despite his overly lame joke he made before, I grinned back.
"And now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go tell my best friends about it so you guys keep your mouths shut. We, me and Austin, have decided to wait until tomorrow evening before telling everyone so until then, no one tells anyone." I replied and Abby nodded, noticing I sent her a warning glance.
I stood up and grabbed my skateboard, running out the door. I was in the greatest mood ever, to be exact, and I was more then excited to tell my best friends.
I sent Emily a quick text to tell her I was on the way over. Luckily, Alex was at Emily's house so I could just tell them at the same time.
-----------------------------------
"Come on up!" Emily yelled as I rang the doorbell. I set my skateboard against the house and opened the door, closing it firmly behind me.
I slowly eased Emily's bedroom door open and peeked in. "Hey guys!" I greeted them cheerfully and Emily grinned, patting the empty seat beside her. "Hey Chica. Thought you'd never come."
"You know I always do." I teased and sat down.
"Now spill. We wanna know exactly how your date went." Alex commanded and faced me, her eyes scanning my face.
"Well, first he took me to a restaurant, and then afterwards he took me to the top of a hill where we could watch the stars." I answered and Emily narrowed her eyes at me. "All details Ruth." She ordered and I raised an eyebrow at her. "Well, then I teased him by running away when he was trying to kiss me. What the hell Em, why would I give you those details!?"
