VOLLEYBALL WAS UNKNOWN TERRITORY TO HER. Sure, in her senior high school days she'd be the occasional coach of Niiyama's volleyball team whenever their coach wasn't around. But that doesn't mean that she was any good at it.

Once upon a time, she'd also trained at Karasuno as needed for a task a former client had asked from her. But that was it.

How could a pro basketball player ever excel in a sport where you're not supposed to steal the ball from your opponent?

Much less, how can Ymari Seinaru play the sport she'd tried so hard to avoid even watching all these years?

Now, don't get her wrong. She doesn't loathe volleyball as much as the next guy.

She has volleyball players for friends, sure. There was Kuroo whose life was still volleyball despite him swearing off playing the sport. Then there was Tobio, who was a pro setter for the Schweiden Adlers, there's Shōyo, her dearest son who's now a pro wingspiker for the MSBY Black Jackals, there's Kei, a middle blocker for the Sendai Frogs, Arsenic, who was a pro athlete in Brazil, and of course her honorary older brother, Fukurō Hirugami who was Tobio's teammate.

She still had those friends kept close to her heart, so of course she didn't entirely evade of the sport.

But if she were given the option to watch a volleyball match with courtside tickets and go home, she'd very much rather go home and doze off.

"You good there, cap'n?" Amur Hanuka asked as they took a break.

The Akatsuki captain just nodded, gulping down her startorade that even had her face and signature on the label.

"Did Utsui arrive yet?" She asked no one in particular.

"Yes, Ymari-san." Ainsley Jordan answered, recalling that the two missing players on the Japan roster left a while ago for the airport. "Kasai and Saito picked her up."

"Argh~ I can't believe I actually agreed to this." Himiko Takemichi plopped down on the volleyball court's pvc floors, back first. Her hair was up in a braided bun. She was all sweaty from training for hours.

The Akatsuki had been here since seven in the morning, doing drills and training like they were pro volleyball players, and not world-class basketball players who devour the court in the olympics annually.

"You can say that again." Shion Hitachiin sighed, rolling on the floor like she was a wheel.

"I have better things to do than this." Her twin, Shiori Hitachiin grumbled underneath her breath. She was, after all gonna be a very busy woman these coming days. So accepting this whole shenanigan was eating her time.
