WAKING UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT HUNGRY WAS NOT ON HER BINGO CARD THIS DECEMBER.
But alas, here she was, muttering curses underneath her breath as she got up and grabbed her phone and wallet. She stuffed the latter inside her bra and quietly walked outside her and Utsui's assigned room, careful as to not wake up the sleeping brunette.
The penthouse was dark and silent, save for the soft snoring coming from its various rooms.
She was just glad that her team seemed to be sleeping well. The semi-finals match tomorrow— or later today, if we're being particular— was definitely going to take a lot out of them.
She made her way to the front door where a rack of coats hung neatly on the provided hangers. Her fingers brushed past a few before landing on her own. It was a long black wool coat that fell past her knees. She slipped it on over her shirt and joggers.
She grabbed a scarf for good measure, wrapping it loosely around her neck before slipping on her a pair of slides over the same socks she'd worn yesterday— the ones Suna had gifted her while she was in the hospital.
She went outside and locked the door after double-checking that she had the keycard inside her pocket. She then made her way to the elevator and pressed the ground floor button.
The elevator ride down was quiet, the soft hum of machinery the only sound accompanying her descent. She leaned against the mirrored wall, watching the floor numbers tick down with half-lidded eyes.
When the doors finally slid open to the ground floor, she stepped out into the lobby and made her way toward the exit.
The moment she pushed through the glass doors, the cold hit her.
She inhaled sharply, and when she exhaled, her breath came out in a visible white puff that dissipated into the frigid Parisian air.
The temperature had dropped significantly since nightfall.
December in Paris was beautiful, she'd give it that. The city was adorned with twinkling lights, the streets dusted with a thin layer of frost that made everything shimmer under the glow of the streetlamps.
But God, was it freezing.
She pulled her coat tighter around herself, her nose already starting to tingle from the chill.
