THE SIXTH ARC, SAKIDŌ, BEGINS INSIDE A TWO-STOREY APARTMENT IN ROPONGGI HILLS, IN THE CITY OF TOKYO.
It's been a week since the hospitalization of the protagonist, Japan's star player, Ymari Shekinah Seinaru.
Over the duration of seven days, she'd been forced to be on bed rest at her aunt's place in Tokyo. Before being discharged the day after she'd put her request in for her aunt to let her out of the hospital, the final diagnosis came.
She still vividly recalls how the doctor, who'd introduced herself as Dr. Kimbley-Hatori of St. Luke's International, broke the news to her on the morning of her hospital discharge.
"I understand that the test results from HGH may have caused some prejudice upon your condition." The doctor who didn't look a day over forty started as she looked at Ymari's clipboard.
Sana was the only one inside the hospital room along with Ymari that morning, as Kuroo was already downstairs waiting in the CEO's car after he'd gone and transferred the dozens of bouquets that the girl had received over the course of a day and a half.
The Futakuchi twins who'd come to visit the night before were already back at Sana's apartment at that time, awaiting Ymari's arrival.
"But I must explain your symptoms first." The doctor continued. "You haven't had over eight hours of rest consistently, correct?"
The ravenette on the hospital bed who'd just gotten her IV pulled out earlier nodded.
"How long has it been since you've had proper rest?"
Ymari paused to think, before she answered. "A while."
Dr. Kimbley-Hatori hummed, "And you've been on the road for?"
"A week."
"And before that you were participating in the Tokyo Olympics, so I assume you've been training for a while also, correct?"
"Yes, doc."
The doctor nodded, looking over the clipboard again. "The symptoms that HGH identified yesterday— shortness of breath, chest constrictions, lightheadedness.."
"These may have been caused by your over fatigue." She looked at Ymari, then at Sana.
"The bruising on her stomach and back, and her joint pain and stiffness were likely caused by body overwork. She also took a hard hit to her back the other day when she collapsed."
"However.." She looked at the clipboard again. "Her arrhythmias and migraines were caused by something else."
"Although the blood tests that HGH did yesterday suggested that she has early signs of amyloidosis, which I know you've been told is a precursor that could likely lead to restrictive cardiomyopathy— I'm happy to tell you that isn't the case." The doctor explained.
