TW : Violence, Abusive Parents

--

My mom was pulling me inside the house with firm and painful grips on my arms, I was screaming and crying in pain and fear and my father was blocking the door, not saying anything. Sarah stood there, choked of what was happening. But I was used to it. My mom getting violent and crazy and my dad helping her without speaking. I was screaming and moving so much that I broke few glasses that were on the table.

Sarah first went to my side and pushed my mom. She grabbed me with a firm grip as well, but this grip was protective and reassured me. My mom took some plates in her hands and started throwing them on the floor. She was crazy. Then Sarah tried to push my father out of the door frame so we could go out and left, but he wasn't moving. He was way taller and stronger than Sarah so she wasn't able to go through him. My mom, in her craziness started to calm down a bit. She took the phone next to her and type a number. Then she put it next to her ear and said : "Hello, someone is trying to kidnap my daughter. A woman, she is in my house. Please help us." Her voice was shaking, but it was clear that she was acting. We all realized she just called the police and Sarah let go of my arm.

"What did you do ?" I asked crying my eyes out.

"When I say something, I mean it. You're going to stay with us because we are your real parents and this woman can't do anything about it."

I turned towards Sarah and tears were falling down her cheeks. It made me so sad to see her like that, but at the same time it means that she loves me and cared about me so much. She was standing in the kitchen, not saying anything. I think she was just overwhelmed and couldn't help but just stop living for few seconds. I took her hand in mine and waited for her to move. She suddenly blinked and looked around her like she just stopped the time to think and came back to us.

"Well, let's wait for the police if that's what you want." She said to my mom. My mother opened her eyes wide, not understanding this sudden reversal of situation.

"Let's just wait !" Sarah repeated with a small but proud smile and she sat on a chair in the kitchen. I was still holding her hand so she pulled me on a chair next to her. My parents were watching each other with disbelief.

"What are you doing ??" I asked Sarah, not knowing her plan.

"Trust me honey." She just said before we heard someone knocking on the door. My mom left and came back with two police officers.

"It's her, look, she is holding my daughter's hand but we absolutely don't know who she is and what she wants to our family." Resumed my mother.

The police officers looked confused and looked around them to see an old little kitchen with broken plates and glasses. Then they raised their eyes to Sarah and I. One of the officer walked in front of me and asked me to lift my head up.

"It's your daughter ?" He asked to my parents.

"Yes !! Yes and this woman next to her is trying to take her from us !!" My mom yelled.

The two officers looked at each other and frown.

"When we got the call we thought that it was a little girl who was getting kidnapped. But this one look more like a teenager." They said looking at me. Then they turned to face Sarah. "And this woman doesn't seem dangerous. Can someone explain me what is it ? This whole situation is so strange." Stated the other officer.

"May I speak ?" Asked Sarah, still holding my hand.

"NO !" Screamed my mom but the officer shut her down and allowed Sarah to talk.

"My name is Sarah Paulson, I'm Gabrielle Evans' teacher. I met Gabrielle at her school when she was sick. I helped her through the process of healing and now I resigned from the school I was working at to take care of Gabrielle because I rapidly understand that she couldn't do it on her own and her parents weren't here to help her. Now she is leaving with me because she doesn't have another place to go. And I'm grateful to take care of her because she deserved it." And she looked at me with a slight smile, they turned her eyes back to the police officers. My mom seemed so pissed and the officers could tell it too so they made the decision to drive us to the police office to talk there and decide what to do with me.
