"How is he?" I ask walking up the steps to Banners lab
"Unfortunately, still Barton" Tony says with a chuckle
"Ah for shame I thought maybe we could have cured that out of him" I say with a smile. My father grabs my arm lightly and pulls me aside
"Everything ok? I want to apologize again for the way I acted on the jet. And I wanted to make sure you were alright after Steve's child comment" He says running his fingers through his hair
"It's all good dad, no worries here, I think I got more sensitive than I needed to, everything is 100% fine" I say smiling at him
"Good, good. I need to make sure my favorite daughter is ok" He says with a small laugh
"I'm your only daughter" I say rolling my eyes
"That you know about" He says looking serious only for a moment before we both break out laughing for a moment.
"How are you holding up, don't think I haven't noticed that Pepper hasn't been around lately" I say placing my hand on his shoulder
"She's mad. I suited up again after I promised I wouldn't" He says very matter of fact
"I mean she knows you, she knows you would never give this all up, she's just upset, she will come around again, I'm sure of it" I say with a smile
"When did you become an expert on love?" He looks at me puzzled
"I guess when I met a wonderful 100 year old man that introduced me to the concept" I say as I walk away from him, I can hear that he mutters something under his breath but honestly I don't care enough to worry myself with it. Walking into the medical section of the lab I see Clint awake on the table, Nat next to him, and Doctor Cho who's running the mechanical operation happening before us.
"You sure he's gunna be ok? Pretending to need him really brings us together" I say smirking at Clint on the table
"That's what I said" Chimes in Nat who's now beside me
"We are creating tissue" says Dr Cho, "At my lab this would have taken 20 minutes"
"No he's flatlining call it" Tony says walking into the room shortly after me I can't help but laugh
"I'm gonna live forever" Barton chimes in from the table "I'm gonna be Plastic Man!"
"That doesn't sound as flattering as you think" I say laughing at him "I'm glad you have this handled doctor, I'll leave you be, but if he dies I get his bow"
I leave the room and walk to the elevator. I take the elevator to one of the lower floors, to my office.
I look over the final plans one last time, sweeping as everything seems to be correct. I finally sent off the final bit of paperwork for the new facility.
I spend a few hours in my office, looking over some of the old files that were brought over during the renovation process. Iv had some of our newer employees working on scanning and archiving all of the old documents as well as labeling and storing them appropriately in the basement here as the records room is worked on at the new facility.
"A new start" I say to myself, leaning back in my chair admiring the layout plans for the new facility "We could all use a brand new start, and all of that extra room will be nice"
"Talking to yourself again beautiful?" Steve's voice comes from behind me causing me to squeak in surprise
"You scared me!" I half yell at him
"We may never be a normal group of people, but i really do like our non-normal family" Steve says lightly rubbing my shoulders taking away any stress i may have been carrying in them
"I wouldn't have it any other way" I say melting at his touch "This weird family means everything to me"
