A few weeks later I'm staying with Steve again at his place, almost forgetting that I have my own room at this point, mostly it's just being used as closet space. I'm also keeping up with all of my meetings and such for Stark Industries remotely.
"Can't keep up?" Steve shouts as he passes me on our run for the 3rd time, I'm jogging at a comfortable pace, he's running like his life depends on it not breaking a sweat, damn super soldier, up ahead I see another man running he throws his arms in the air as Steve passes him again. All I can do is laugh and try to catch up with the man.
"Not again" He says as I approach
"Sorry, just thought you would like a jogging buddy that keeps up with you, not the other way around" I say smiling
"Oh sorry I thought you were the other guy, he's fast" He says waving at me "I'm Sam nice to meet you"
"I'm Kaylee, and yeah damn super soldier" I say laughing
"Oh friend of yours?" He says smirking
"Best friend" I say seeing Steve getting ready to pass us again. As Steve passes I make up a snowball and throw it at his head, he turns around and jogs backwards giving me a look, I'll pay for that later.
"Wow, ok I think I'm done running, how about you?" He asks kindly
"God yes, look shade!" I say pointing to a large tree, Sam and I walk over to the tree and sit on the ground catching our breath. Noticing the Air Force logo on his sweatshirt I point to it and ask, "So Sam what do you do?"
"Pararescue, but I'm a councilor at the VA now" He says smiling. I get lost in my thoughts for a moment, it may be crazy but I have been bounding around an idea for a while maybe he will be a good asset to the project "And I know about you Ms. Stark, it's an honor to meet you"
"It's an honor to meet a real hero," I smile
"Do you often forget you are an avenger?" He jokes back
"Honestly yeah" I say looking down. Getting distracted by a few people walking their dogs. Never a better time to ask "You a dog person Sam?"
"Strange question, completely out of the blue, but yeah I like dogs" He says now watching the same person playing with their dog, before i can say anything further Steve runs up to us.
"Need a medic?" Steve says to the both Sam and I, as we continue to try to catch out breath
"I need a new set of lungs, dude, you just ran like 13 miles in 30 minutes" Sam jokes at Steve
"Guess I got a late start" Steve says looking at me, I try to hide the blush forming, he was warm, I didn't want to get out of bed, it was a good morning snuggle session.
"You should be ashamed of yourself, you should take another lap" Sam turns to look at me, as I stretch out after the run. He turns back to Steve "Did you just take it? I assume you took it"
"What unit you with" Steve asks pointing out the same logo that I did moments ago
"58th pararescue, but now I'm working down to the VA" He says stretching out his hand, Steve grabs it and pulls him up "Sam Wilson"
"Steve Rogers" He introduces himself, I can barely keep my eyes off of Steve now, he's looking extra handsome today.
"I kind of put that together" Sam says after Steve's introduction, "Must have freaked you out coming home after the whole defrosting thing"
"It takes some getting used to, but lucky for me I have a great friend to help me navigate things" He nods at me
"It's good to meet you Sam" He says walking to me helping me off the ground
