One Last Confession

"Morning sunshine" Steve's comforting voice bringing me back to reality from my sleep

"Were you just watching me sleep?" I question yawning and stretching

"Yeah, sorry, I woke up a few minutes ago, you were just so beautiful I couldn't bring myself to look away" he says looking slightly ashamed

"Ok weirdo" I say feeling uncomfortable at his compliment

"Do you want Breakfast?" He asks now playing with my hair

"I'm ok, I'm not hungry, but we can go up to my floor and get you something to eat" I say getting out of bed, we are both still in the clothes from last night, we fell asleep holding each other, it was nice feeling so loved.

"Sounds good, beautiful" he says, coming around the bed and taking my hand. We walk to the elevator and go up to my floor.

We walk into the large living room and I sit on the couch. As Steve looks around amazed, forgetting that my living area is at least the size of the small apartment we share in DC

"How do you even like staying at my place?" He asks confused

"I like the small space you have, this floor really is too much, honestly, I'd live in a small cabin in the middle of nowhere if I could." I say with a small smile

"That sounds nice, maybe in a few years when we settle down we can make it happen" Steve says coming over and sitting down on the couch with me.

"Has our relationship become more serious than I even realised? I haven't been able to tell him that I love him because I think i'll scare him off, but he's talking about our future?" I think to myself completely unsure about everything at this exact moment

"Yeah, I guess, maybe, as for now, your a kick ass super soldier, and I'm running part of a multimillion dollar company." I say as I look down at my phone that's buzzing, seeing Fury's name pop up on the screen "Who's ignoring calls from Nick Fury"

"You're ignoring the calls? Why?" Steve asks slightly concerned

"Fury wants me to join a secret team, honestly that's all I can say about it, at least for now" I pause "my father just went through surgery tho, and I'm not sure I want to sign up for something that will keep me away from home for long periods of time."

"That sounds like a lot, would he settle for part time missions with that team?" Steve asks worry not hidden well in his voice

"No, he's giving me a few choices tho, one of them is joining you, Nat and STRIKE, but I'm not sure I feel comfortable with that either. Rumlow had always disliked me when he only knew me as Fenix, and he gives me the creeps, I don't trust him" I say explaining the situation "Plus, he won't like the fact that if I were to join you, you would be my direct supervisor, and that would be found upon, because team members can't date, especially a supervisor and his subordinate it's a distraction"

"Well, I think i'd like you to be my subordinate" He responds with a sly smile, causing me to smack him lighty in the arm

"Cute" I scoff at him and laugh lightly at him "But in all seriousness, i'm in a tough spot"

"Then we won't tell" He says matter of factly "We won't keep secrets from each-other, but we can keep each-other secrets from others"

"So the world thinks we are still only friends?" I ask wrapping my head around the idea "I don't know if I can ask you to continue to hide us, I know just how hard it is to hide, plus I know how hard it was when you couldn't be seen with me as a friend in public before my father outed me"
