"I enjoyed tonight, I hope we can do it again soon"
Yeonjun scoffed as Yoona looked up at him, eyes wide and soft smile upon her lips. They had barely spoken all evening, so how could she even say that with such joy.
"You know, you're such a comforting person to be around Yeonjun", Yoona said, leaning herself onto Yeonjun's side. "I just wish you could see me in that light"
"Yoona what are you talking about? I've not been quiet about my distaste for the whole arrangement", he replied in a cold tone, sharply moving his body away from the girl. "Our parents set this up Yoona. If I had my way, a night like this would never happen again"
A growing sound of light conversations coming from the dining room stopped Yoona from replying to Yeonjun, a blessing he didn't know he needed. Both sets of Choi parents approached the young betrothed couple and smiled. All were genuine, apart from Mikyong's. She may have been able to fool everyone else, but she couldn't fool her son.
"How are the young couple after such a wonderful night?"
"Even more in love", Yoona's mother replied instantly to Yeonjun's fathers question which almost made Yeonjun visibly gag. Why was she eager?
"Of course we are, how could we not?", Yoona giggled as she approached Yeonjun yet again, except this time she wrapped her arms around his and placed her head on his shoulder. The sight alone was almost enough for her parents to demand the wedding happen tomorrow.
Gently shaking of the girl, Yeonjun noticed the look that his father was directing towards him. It looked threatening. Although he hated playing along with this forced relationship, to upset his father was something he hated more.
"Yes, she's just a joy to be with", he forced out before making his way to his mother's side. "Although It is getting late and I don't want Yoona to be late. A restless night is a threat to her education"
"Handsome and considerate? Our Yoona is so lucky", her mother exclaimed with joy. "Come on dear, let's get you home".
With a soft smile on her face, Yoona's mother excused herself and her family with a goodbye and left the Choi household.
As soon as Yeonjun saw the family leave, he felt a hug wave of relief come over him. He wasted no time in departing from his parents and retreating to the paradise which was his room. Not too long ago he would have saw this room as a prison, a place to keep him away from his friends and the chaos they would create on the streets. However, now he loved the idea of being isolated by four stone walls. They provided shelter from a world that only seemed to hurt him.
Yeonjun wasted no time in collapsing onto his bed and pulling out his phone. Much to his dismay he still had no messages from Soobin.
"What are you frowning at?"
"I- Y/n!", he gasped, instantly swinging his legs over the side of his bed so he was sitting up. "What are you doing here?"
"I don't know", you shrugged. "Sorry I didn't knock, but you left your door open... so I thought you'd be okay with it"
Yeonjun remained silent as you crossed his room and took a seat beside him.
"So.. How was dinner?", there was a slight awkwardness in your tone of voice. You really didn't know what to say to Yeonjun, but you couldn't deal with the silent treatment between you two any longer.
"About as fun as you can imagine, Yoona just isn't who I wanna be spending my time with"
"I'm sorry"
"What are you sorry for?", Yeonjun spoke with genuine confusion in his tone of voice. None of this was your fault, so why were you apologising.
"Oh.. Uh nothing. I should be going-"
"Y/n, talk to me"
"I have nothing to say", you said while standing up. Before you even had the chance to step away, you felt a hand intertwine with yours.
"Y/n, please... don't go"
Your face grew warmer as she used your other hand to remove Yeonjun's.
Once you were free, you quickly muttered out some excuse and left, making sure to shut the boys door behind you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
You don't know why you came here. You just knew that you had to get away from Yeonjun and the rest of his family. So, here you were, hesitantly raising your first to knock on the door. Although, it took you a few minutes before you were to make yourself to knock.
You stood nervously at the front door, your nerves growing as the sound of someone fiddling with the door lock could be heard from the inside. It took barely anytime at all before the door hesitantly opened and a sheepish half-asleep Taehyun made eye contact with you.
"Y/n?", he gasped while rubbing his eyes. Clearly he thought he was still sleeping.
"I'm sorry for coming here unannounced, especially after all this time. But, please, I didn't know where else to go"
"Geez Y/n, you're soaking wet". Taehyun wasn't wrong. On your journey to his house, the weather decided to be make things more difficult for you and pour with rain. Stupidly you decided to not pick up a jacket on your way out of the Choi household, so you had no means of precaution to keep yourself somewhat dry. "Get inside, we better dry you off before you get sick".
"Thank you Taehyun, I mean it"
After making your way into the dry safe-haven, also known as Taehyun's house, it took no time at all before you were dried off and sitting across from your old childhood friend was a warm cup of hot chocolate in your hands.
In your urgency to get away from Yeonjun and avoid having to go anyway near Yoona, Beomgyu or Kai, you had completely overlooked how long it had really been since you and Taehyun had been left alone with one another. Sure, you had recently had been more in contact than you had been in previous years, but that didn't make conversation between the both of you come any easier.
"So, uhm...", Taehyun spoke up. "Do you.. uh.. maybe want to tell me why you decided to come here?"
"I couldn't think of anywhere else to go"
"What about Beomgyu? Aren't you and him a thing now? Or what about Kai-"
"I refuse to go there"
"Why?", Taehyun raised his cup to his lips and took a sip, anticipating what your next words would be.
There was no point avoiding the question, you had woken him up and forced your presence upon his home. So, with a sigh, you filled him in on everything that had happened recently. Including your feelings for Yeonjun.
"Woah... that's a lot to take in", he said with a slight nervous laugh in his voice.
"Tell me about it", you groaned. "But I had to tell someone Taehyun and I know we aren't as close as we used to be, but you were the only one I felt I could trust"
"I see.."
The room fell back into silence. You weren't sure if Taehyun just wasn't sure what to say or he was trying to all of what you had said in, but you weren't about to question him on it. So, with a sip of your drink every so often, you stayed quiet until Taehyun decided to speak again.
"How long have you liked him? Yeonjun I mean"
"I don't know", you replied, "A lot longer than I realised, I think"
"But with him and Yoona and you and Beomgyu, what will you do?"
"What is there to do?", you sighed, lowering your cup onto the counter and running your hand through your hair in frustration.
Taehyun frowned as he placed his cup beside yours and pulled you into his embrace.
"Don't worry Y/n, we'll figure this out. I won't leave you again"
Smiling, you placed you returned the hug and whispered "I've missed you Taehyun"
His grip on you tightened.
"I've missed you too"
