Your heart was pounding.

The boy you've liked for you has just confessed his feelings for you and had placed his lips upon yours. As he pulled away, you couldn't help but notice the shy boyish grin on his face.

Time stood still, for a brief moment it felt like the winds breeze was no longer brushing past your exposed arms and the crisp air no longer affected you. All you could focus on was Beomgyu, his windswept hair, those dark brown eyes and his soft lips.

You gulped harshly, which the boy took notice of instantly. With a slight chuckle he lowered his gaze to the ground.

"I'm sorry if that was too forward", he apologised.

"I... I don't know what to say", you breathed out, placing a hand onto your chest.

Beomgyu smiled as he lifted one of your hands and placing a soft kiss onto it.

"That's okay, I really gave you no time to prepare". The wind had began to pick up and you began to slightly shiver. "We should get back, otherwise we'll both end up with a cold"

Unable to speak, you nodded and allowed the older boy to lead you back to his family and Mikyong.

When you had finally caught sight of Mikyong, you noticed that Yeonjun was beside her.

You felt a wave of relief knowing that you would finally be able to avoid the conversation of Beomgyu's confession. There was no way that Beomgyu would dare talk about what he had done in front of Yeonjun.

Although you weren't sure of the exact details around the two boys conflict recently, It was extremely obvious that they're relationship had become a sensitive topic; as a result of their actions earlier on.

"Oh you're back!", Mikyong cried with glee as she pulled you into a hug.

"You two were gone a while", Yeonjun stated coldly as he glared at Beomgyu.

"We needed some fresh air", Beomgyu spat back before making his way over to his sister.

Yeonjun cocked an eyebrow as his eyes met yours. Immediately you looked away and blurted out some words of reassurance to Yeonjun.

"It's okay Yeonjun, I just needed to get away from all of this for a moment"

It was clear that Yeonjun was sceptical, but he did not push the question of yours and Beomgyu's disappearance any further.

"You know", Yeonjun spoke up. "The ballroom dance competition is about to start"

"So?", you replied, crossing your arms over your chest and staring at the male who was beginning to pique your interest.

"What do you mean so?", he scoffed. "Did you really think I helped you learn to dance so that you can stand at the side and watch others dance at the ball?"

"Well... I-", before you could continue you felt Yeonjun grab a hold of one of your hands and gently pull it towards him, unfolding your arms in the process. Your cheeks burned slightly as his thumb gently caressed your hand.

"Come on y/n", he said in such a calm way that you were put at ease instantly. "Let's dance"

You could only stare in awe as you let yourself be lead into the centre of the ballroom, surrounded by all types of people. It would have been enough to make anyone feel overwhelmed, especially someone with your background. But, being with Yeonjun was enough to calm any of your nerves. You'd come a long way, in fact, you both had.

As the music came to a stop and the lights raised, you and Yeonjun stopped are turned your attention to a woman in an extravagant lilac ballgown take to the stage. With a sweet smile, you took hold of the microphone and began to address the attendees.

"Good Evening ladies and gentlemen, I hope you are all having a wonderful evening so far. Now, It is time for the event that many of you having been waiting for. Our ballroom dance competition!", a few people in the room began to cheer, including Yeonjun, which you couldn't help but smile at. "Now most of you already know the rules, when one of your judges tap you and your partner on the shoulder, you're out and you must leave the dance floor. Once you are out, you're out, so no re-joining the floor with a different partner. Everyone got that?".

"I thought that would've been obvious?", you whispered to Yeonjun.

"You'd think so wouldn't you?", he replied.

"The winners will be the last dancers on floor. Good Luck everyone! Now let the competition commence!"

The room applauded as the lights dimmed again and the most beautiful music was projected across the ballroom.

You watched anxiously as you noticed the amount of people flooding on to the dance floor. There was no way you would be able to keep up with the individuals who had been dancing for years. This was a piece of cake for them.

"Y/n, may I have this dance?"

You turned to see Yeonjun holding out his hand to you, a slight smile plastered on his face.

"Don't worry, you'll be great. These people have no idea who they are going up against", Yeonjun whispered over to you with a wink.

Nodding, you slowly placed your hand into his.

"Okay... let's do this"

You let out a shaky breath as you felt Yeonjun place his hand on your hip. It was one thing to dance alone in his garden, but now you had an audience and one particular person in the audience was Choi Beomgyu. He had just confessed to you, how was he going to react to the sight of you and Yeonjun dancing in such close proximity.

Yeonjun noticed how distracted you appeared to be, so he took initiative and placed you hand on his shoulder.

"Don't be afraid, we can do this"

With a slight smile, you nodded.

"Let's win this"

That was all Yeonjun needed to hear. Your words were taken as confirmation and within seconds he was leading you across the dance floor.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Oh my! Look at them!"
Mikyong cried out with glee as she watched Yeonjun and you dance together. She was wiping away her fake tears when she caught sight of Yoona standing by her self by the drinks table.
She wondered how such a beautiful girl hadn't been invited to dance in the competition, so she made her way over to her.
"Yoona? You're not participating in the dance competition?"
Yoona gasped as as she turned to face Mikyong.
"Oh Ms. Choi! No I'm not. The only boy I'd like to dance with never wants to take part"
"Aww my dear, you shouldn't let that boy get the better of you!", she gave the girl a hug and smiled sadly. "You should take a page of Yeonjun's book, he never takes part in this contest, but this year he has!"
"W-what?! He is? With who?"
"Y/n! I'm so glad he's finally coming out of his shell!"
Yoona remained quiet, which was something Mikyong took note of.
"Well dear, I hope you change your mind and are able to find a handsome young man who will happily dance with you", Mikyong said sweetly. "Now if you'll excuse me, I really must get back to cheering on my son"
As Mikyong left, she failed to notice the look that Yoona had on her face. A combination of anger, sorrow and hatred, and as she re-joined her husbands side and shot a quick glance to the drinks table, she noticed that Yoona had vanished.
