A week had passed since that faithful night and today, after school, you would be attending your first ever tutoring. The tutor, whom you now know to be Ms Mikyong, was expecting you to arrive at her home at 5pm for an hour and a half long session and truth be told, you were not excited at all. Despite the fact you desperately wanted to pass maths, it was the subject you despised the most. So a certain amount of time dedicated to maths that was even longer than your typical maths period was close to your understanding of hell.
"Hey Y/n!"
You looked up from your desk and saw your twin brother running towards you.
"Morning Kai! How's mom?"
"She's good.. and dad?"
You sighed as you massaged your temples.
"Don't even ask"
"That bad, huh?"
"You don't even know"
Kai smiled sadly as he looked over at your exhausted form. Ever since your parents finalised their divorce, life had been tough for you and your twin. However, it had been worse for you. To stop any legal battles over where you and your brother would stay, you decided you'd rotate back and forth between your parents. So you chose to stay are your dads for the first few months and Kai stayed with your mom. But nothing is that easy, plans failed and you ended up living with your dad full time.. for the past three years.
"Here"
Kai said as he pulled out a wrapped parcel and handed it to you.
"Mom wanted me to give you this, now don't ask me what it is because I have no idea"
He said with a laugh as he watched you take the parcel and place it into your bag.
"Tell her I say thank yo-"
"How about you tell her yourself?"
You shook you head and looked at him.
"I can't"
"Y/n-"
Kai was quickly interrupted by the sound of the first period bell. As the teacher walk in, Kai frowned and opened his textbook. He knew there was no other time today he'd be able to talk to about this. You only shared one class together and the only time you had the chance to talk was the few minutes before the bell would ring. The two of you were becoming more like strangers everyday and that was the thing that scared Kai the most.
----- At Lunch -----
You yawned as you opened the door which led up to the schools rooftop. Usually heading onto the roof was a punishable action, but ever since you managed to persuade the principle to let you start a "garden club" in the rooftops greenhouse, you were allowed to go up there anytime you wanted to.
When you reached the rooftop, you sighed with relief and sat on your make shift seat by the roofs edge.
The place was peaceful and pretty. It was your escape from the real world.
You were just about to each your lunch when you heard the sound of something shattering onto the ground. Startled by the noise, you immediately jumped to your feet.
"H-hello?"
You called out as you turned walked behind the structure on the roof, where the entrance to the rooftop was located, and noticed one of the plant pots from the greenhouse was now smashed on the ground.
You crouched down beside it and was surprised to notice that a single red rose was amongst the mess of soil and the shattered ceramic pot. You grabbed the fragile flower and stood back up and looked around. You knew for a fact that there was no roses growing in the greenhouse, which meant someone else had been up here.
"Y/n?"
You jumped as you heard a voice from behind you. However, after turning around you felt of a surge of relief.
"Oh Yoona.. It's you"
"Of course it's me silly, no one else is allowed up here- Oh are we planting roses now?"
She said as her eyes landed on the flower within your grasp.
"Oh.. um no.. but-"
"Nevermind.. I just came to find you to say Kai is looking for you"
You sighed as you turned back to the broken plant pot and began to clean the mess up.
"Did you tell him where I might be?"
"Nope, I told him I had no idea.. just like I always do"
You muttered out a thanks as you gathered the broken ceramic pot and placed it in the trash. You then grabbed the brush and pan and was on your way to sweep the soil up when Yoona stood right in front of you, blocking your path. You tried to walk around her, but she kept moving in front of you.
"Yoona, I'm trying to sweep here-"
"Why won't you talk to him?"
"I don't want to talk about it..."
"Y/n, I'm your best friend and he's your brother. You can talk to us"
"I just can't"
You cried out as you pushed past her and began sweeping up the mess. Yoona stood for a few moments in silence, as she stared over at you before sighing.
"Fine, but you've got to talk to him soon. Next time I'll tell him where you are"
With that said, you watched Yoona walk off and leave the rooftop, leaving you alone. You had just tipped the soil in the trash when the bell for period 6 rang.
You exhaled as you ran back over to your school bag, flung it over your shoulder and made your way back inside for your next class.
Of course you felt guilty for shutting out not only your brother, but Yoona as well. None of them had ever hurt you, yet you continuously where hurting them. For some you didn't intend to, but for others.. You were.
