hi, i'm alive still.

this chapter has angst, along with comforting bits and fluff.

please, enjoy.

...

"Oh, Kiara." You were startled by the phoenix suddenly running up aside you. "What's wrong?"

"I'd like to talk to you about something. Just before you leave - if you don't mind." You stopped walking.

"Uh, yeah. Shoot."

"It's Calli - and it also has to do with you as well," She cleared her throat. "She seems kind of stressed recently, like really stressed."

"Yeah, I noticed that too. Though, I haven't got the chance to ask her yet," You yawned. "But what about me, though?"

"Have you noticed her being a bit clingy lately?"

"A bit, sure. But not enough to say that she is."

"Have you noticed that she's been wearing your hoodies too?" Kiara added.

"Oh. Makes sense why I haven't seen them in my closet recently... but what does this have to do with anything though?" You asked.

"I'll be honest with you, I haven't got a clue myself." Kiara sighed. "If anything, just check on her for me. I'd rather see her angry at me than the state that she's in right now."

"Of course. I guess I'll go grab her those sweets she likes while I'm at it," You took a step down the hallway. "I'll tell you how it goes later."

"Hope it goes well! See you later, Y/N!" The hopeful energy returned to the phoenix, who waved frantically at you as you left.

...

Unfortunately, the sweets shop that you often see Mori go to, was closed. Instead, you simply dropped by a 7-11 and bought two packs of Pocky, along with snacks she might want later.

It was just around 5 when you pulled into the driveway, the sun shined lightly onto the surface below. You grabbed the plastic 7-11 bag out of your passenger seat and got out of your car, making sure that you've locked it. The elements outside were freezing, as it felt like 30 degree weather with the wind blowing upon you. You quickly made it towards the front door, with your keys jangling as you stepped up a curb.

Your heart was pounding, as you were unsure of what you would see on the other side of the door. You unlocked it and tapped the door lightly, indicating your arrival.

"I'm home..." You continued into the cold interior.

The lights around you - except the kitchen lights - were off, and the environment was relatively quiet. Walking into the kitchen to investigate, you spotted your girlfriend sulking at the dining table.

"Calli..." You pulled a chair aside to sit down, then placing your errands on the table. "Are you okay? I've got you some things - and if you were expecting me earlier I -" Your worries were quickly interrupted by the reaper adjacent from you.

"Am I not doing enough, Y/N?" Mori blurted.

"Hey, no - I mean," You paused and took a breath.
