Hi.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I apologize for not updating you the last few days. I'm sure there are a few of you who are constantly looking out for updates.
Expect to see the updates slow at the end of this month and towards December. Finals week is coming!
On the other hand, I noticed that the recent chapters have been less contentful. I'll try to step things up instead of half-assing my way towards 1000 words and calling it a day.
Instead of me rambling on, please, enjoy the chapter.
...
Your pen dropped onto the floor, along with your jaw, as you couldn't believe your eyes. Marine, who messaged you on Discord, informed you of a rather unannounced date with Rushia. Marine knew you had shot a few glances at Rushia, so you could only assume it was natural for her to do such a thing. Though, when she messaged you, she put it in a way that if you happened to not show up to the date, something serious would happen to you. But she also alluded that if you didn't respond to her 'invitation', she would drag you along to it, regardless of your opinion.
You viewed it as rather breathtaking good news, except you haven't even spoken to Rushia once. Asides from the collaboration streams, a simple "hello" was as far as you got with her at the office. As big as your crush was, your confidence wasn't.
So you took matters into your own hands and replied,
"Yeah, sure. I'll be there."
And as soon as you pressed the "enter" key, you knew you fucked up. You quickly stood up, cursed, and facepalmed all at once with a grimaced frown.
"What did I just do...?" You wailed.
You quickly fixed yourself up as your door swung open.
"Y/N, I'm home... Eh? What's up with you?" Noel asked, putting down a bag of groceries onto your bed.
"It's kind of hard to explain..."
"Did Pekora steal from you again?"
"Yeah, my stapler- No! That's out of the question. It's Marine." You waved both of your hands frantically, sighing.
"Marine? What about her?" Noel rustled through the grocery bags, pulling out some ingredients. "By the way, what do you want for dinner?"
"She... set me up on a date with Rushia..." You sighed deeply, sitting back on your chair. "Anything is fine."
"Rushia-chan? But you barely even talk to her!" She put the ingredients back into the bag, then pulled out a pack of instant curry. "Curry it is then..."
"That's the problem." You twirled around in the chair, stopping just before you got dizzy.
"I mean, what's the worse that could happen?" She asked while disappearing into the hallway with the groceries, then returning to sit on your bed.
"Well, for one, what if Rushia never shows up? Or she leaves in the middle of it? What if-" Noel closed her eyes and presented her hand firmly.
"You haven't even gone to the date yet? How do you know that's going to happen?"
Noel's words sounded like an epiphany. You dropped a fist into your palm and grinned.
"You're right. That's not going to happen." You sighed in relief.
"That's not what I meant..." She laughed nervously. "Well, in any case, I'll try to back you up. Danchou always has your back."
Noel's wide grin gave you an extra boost of confidence. If anything, she would probably be a better wingman than Marine, given your prior experiences with her. Nonetheless, you figured it wouldn't do you any good to skulk around the thought, so instead, you ate dinner with Noel and knocked yourself out.
