11:42.
That's what your phone said a minute earlier as the two became a three.
In the midst of the evening, you showed up to an address you've never seen before, dressed in a semi-formal attire to a complete extraneous house party.
You wouldn't have come at all if it wasn't for Fauna begging you over text to come "save her" from a New Year's party. It was pretty odd when you had pieced the thought that Fauna wasn't really the type of person to party, let alone to mingle.
So here you were at the front doorstep of a conundrum, which may as well be a total mess of human interaction.
"Better be worth my time..." You sighed exasperatedly, knocking on the door rather loudly so that it could be heard over the loud music pounding through the walls.
"Oh, you're Y/N, right?" A guy came to the door with a red Solo cup filled to the brim with a substance, probably alcohol or something. "Come on in, Fauna's expecting you... I think..."
The guy ushered you in and closed the door behind you and offered his cup.
"Wanna sip - maybe the whole thing?" The guy took a pretty good look at you, before tilting his head left and right in confusion. "Ehh... maybe not... you don't seem to fit the description of a party rocker."
He looked behind him into the large mass of people on his tiptoes and waddled left and right.
"Don't see her in there, but hey, if you find her, let me know..." The guy got back on the heels of his foot and sighed, patting your shoulder shyly. "The name is Alan."
"Sure thing, Alan." You replied briefly, not trying to make any more conversation.
"I invited her... then she invited you... I don't know what her situation is - but, yeah, holler at me if you find her." Alan shrugged and disappeared into the masses.
Whoever that Alan guy was, he definitely was the popular one; a swarm of people began to huddle around him as he began to jump and down, the crowd rhythmically chanting "ay" with each jump he made. Surprisingly, none of the contents in his cup had spilled.
You decided to not linger any longer and decided to run all the way up two flights of stairs into a loft, which then led to a balcony. Luckily, that led you straight to Fauna, and you didn't have to do any extra snooping, or fist-fighting if it ever came to that...
When you opened the door, a brisk cold air enveloped your body as you stepped outside, making sure to close the door behind you softly. That startled the kirin when she noticed there was someone behind her.
"Oh my god, I didn't think you were coming!" Fauna's eyes lit up and her face calmed in relief. "How'd you know I'd be up here?"
"Well, you're up here for a reason - avoiding the party, perhaps?" You chuckled softly.
"Oh, so you can tell I'm anti-social," Fauna giggled. "I was worried that you weren't going to come when you said you couldn't make it."
"And I was thinking to myself that, aww- I'm going to have to talk with people I barely even know!" Fauna continued.
You simply stared and listened to her as she spoke with a full glass of champagne. She clearly wasn't bothered by the elements as she wore the same outfit that she had revealed weeks ago to her viewers, besides the glasses...
"I'm not sure how I got here in the first place..." Fauna tilted her head. "I think it was because of Alan. I think he has a crush on me or something."
"Makes sense..." You shrugged. "He steals a look at you every time he passes you at the office."
