Brain vs Branwen

James- Are you ready?

Cole- No.

James- I don't blame you. But remember to keep your head up and those bullets counted.

Looking at one of James' two revolvers, which he calls Due Process, you nod. It's got weight to it, but after using it for a few hours in the on-board shooting range you've gotten used to the recoil and stability.

James- And use your semblance to divert his attacks. That gravity well ability will provide massive tactical advantages. You can slow him down with it. That will give you a fighting chance.

Cole- He relies on speed to land hits. He's not overly strong, but he can do damage if you don't keep him at a reasonable distance.

James- Exactly. And how's the armour?

You adjust and tighten the straps on the light combat armour that Atlas soldiers are equipped with normally. It feels comfortable, yet unfamiliar.

Cole- As good as it'll feel on a scientist.

James- It'll have to do. We didn't have much time.

The p.a system crackles to life and Ozpin's voice blares out through it.

Ozpin- Will our challengers please make their way to the arena?

James- Okay. I'll be on standby to call off the fight if you signal me.

Cole- Thanks. Hopefully I win... hopefully.

James- Just breathe, focus, count and dodge.

You nod and start walking to the arena through the empty and rather cold halls of Amity.

Penny- Cole Rose!

You stop and turn back as Penny gives you yet another crushing hug.

Cole- P-penny! I didn't expect to see you here!

She lets go and smiles.

Penny- I wanted to see how well you fight! Who is your opponent?

Cole- My uncle and a veteran huntsman, Qrow Branwen.

Penny- Oh. That seems unwise.

Cole- Trust me, I know. But I'm going to try my best.

Penny- Wonderful! I wish you the best of luck! I will be cheering for you!

Cole- Thanks Penny. That means a lot to me.

You give her a gentle hug then continue to the arena. Qrow is already there, tapping his foot and rolling his shoulders.

Qrow- What took you!?

Cole- Talking to friends! I'll introduce you to the concept after I beat you!

He sneers and draws his longsword. Gripping Due Process, you slip your finger into the trigger guard.

Ozpin- Begin!

A buzzer goes off and Qrow immediately dashes towards you, almost faster than your eye can see. Focusing and activating your semblance, a small gravity well forms just in front of him. His dash is interrupted by the sudden change in traction and he's thrown to the side by it.

James- Now Cole!

You aim the revolver and look down the sights. Taking a breath and closing one eye, you fire. He quickly rolls out of the way of the round and picks up his blade again.

Cole- Shit.

He leaps forward, swinging his weapon. You jump back as the blade just grazes your combat armour.
