Winter PoV
Sitting down into your office chair heavily, you wipe the sweat of a workout from your forehead. As you open your terminal, a call comes through. It's Cole.
Oh gods, I thought he would never call.
You answer it, showing Cole's face. He has a set of stitches on his forehead and a tired expression.
Cole- Hi Winter. Good to see you.
Winter- It's good to see you too, Cole. What happened to your forehead?
Cole- I uh, dueled Qrow.
Winter- What!? That bastard, how badly did he hurt you!?
Cole- This is pretty much it, apart from some sore ribs and shaky legs. I won, actually.
You sit back, surprised.
Winter- You won? How?
Cole- James taught me some moves and let me use one of his guns. That and my semblance slowed him down enough for me to handle his aura. He could barely move by the end.
You try to speak, but find yourself speechless.
Cole- Don't worry, I get the surprise, I'm not exactly a fighting kinda guy. But this was personal and mission based. Though I think the mission is over.
Winter- Cole!
He jumps in fright, snapped out of his thoughts.
Winter- Congratulations. That's... incredible. You beat Qrow Branwen. That's a big achievement, especially for a man like yourself.
He rubs the back of his neck, embarrassed.
Cole- Ah thanks, Winter. That's real nice of you. How are things on the Dawn?
Winter- Going well. Repairs are almost complete, and we have the control room and drone signal chambers up and running once again.
Cole- Wonderful to hear. I look forward to coming back to the station. Just waiting on my citizenship.
Winter- Have you heard much about it?
Cole- Not yet. But there's an inter-kingdom council meeting tonight and I'm hoping to inquire about it with Councilman Sleet or Councilwoman Camilla.
Winter- I hope it's almost approved.
Cole- Me too.
Nodding, you feel a slight awkwardness set in.
Cole- Uh, so, made any friends onboard or still working overtime?
Winter- I've chosen to take some time to relax and experience the luxury facilities here. I've found a fondness for the relaxation chambers.
Cole- Ah nice. Any particular environments in particular?
Winter- The deep sea storm environment is my most visited one at the moment.
Cole- That's a good one. Though I get a bit seasick.
Winter- It's not even a real ocean, Cole.
Cole- Hey, my mind makes it feel like I'm rocking to and fro. Not my fault.
You can't help but chuckle at him.
Winter- I must admit, it feels rather empty up here without your obsessive research and log-keeping.
Cole- Well I'll be sure to get right back to it when I return, eh?
Winter- I'd like that.
Cole- As would I.
