Cole- So we're here. Who is Salem?

Penny looks around for a minute, before locking your door and nodding.

James- Okay. Let's have a drink and sit down for a while. This is going to be very confusing.

Pouring two drinks, the three of you sit on a nice soft couch, the sun is starting to set and is shining in through the windows.

James- I'll give you the blunt version, then I'll go into detail. Okay?

Cole- Alright?

James- Salem is an ancient witch, who as far as my knowledge goes, controls all Grimm.

You stare at him for a moment, before scoffing.

Cole- Right, and the sun revolves around the earth. A witch? Seriously?

James- I am serious.

You look between both his and Penny's face, but don't find any humour in them.

Cole- You're serious? Like, magic and bullshit like that?

James- Yes. She has been alive for who knows how long. All that we know is that she is trying to bring chaos and suffering to everyone. I spent a long time - along with Qrow, Glynda, Raven and Ozpin - trying to slow down her plans. But this war is going to give her a foothold that we can't remove.

Cole- Then how do we deal with this Salem if we're focusing our efforts on Vale?

James- I don't know yet. But I'll work it out soon. Just today, we've had nearly three hundred applications for the army, which is good.

Cole- Three hundred?

James- People from Mantle. Majority of the foot soldiers from our military are from the city of Mantle originally, whilst our officers are more often than not, from Atlas proper.

Cole- I see.

James- Our military never has been equipped for handling outright warfare, though. While we have superior firepower and numbers, that doesn't make us the strongest.

Cole- Vale has always been the political powerhouse of Remnant. Honestly, we need to strike first and strike hard. Before Ozpin can bring any other kingdoms against us. And before Salem can make a move.

James- I'm ahead of you on that. The forces have been loading the remaining battle airfleet for deployment. Hundreds of soldiers, and almost the same amount of Knights. Along with several armoured Paladin divisions.

Cole- Wish I could be there to see it all go down.

James- Don't worry, you'll get your turn to swing at Ozpin. When he's locked up and in chains, that is.

Cole- Sounds good. But we both know Ozpin is going to use the huntsmen as a meatshield to stop us.

Qrow- I tried convincing Yang and Ruby on leaving Beacon, but they're hellbent on being huntresses. They don't get what's at stake.

Cole- As much as they want to be mature, they're acting like children.

Glynda- They are children, Cole.

Cole- Then they need to grow up and realise that innocent people are going to die if they follow that deranged old man.

Penny- I don't think there is much else that can be done for now.

James- I agree. I'm sorry Cole, but if your sisters go into the fight, we have to do what is necessary.

James' scroll beeps, and he checks it.

Glynda- What is it, James?

James- One of my agents. They've been undercover in Vale, keeping an eye on Ozpin's dealings.

Qrow- Add them to the call. I wanna hear this.

He does so.

Agent- General. I have urgent news.

James- Go ahead.

Agent- Ozpin has sent several emissaries to Menagerie, Vacuo and Mistral. They left by bullhead, with the protection of two hunter teams each.

James- Damn. He's getting to it quickly. Do you know the routes they're taking?

Agent- Yes sir, I'll sent them through within the hour. You might be able to intercept them, but I believe they're taking public air traffic routes in commercial bullheads.

James- It'll make it difficult to check legally for them. Anything else to report, agent?

Agent- Yes sir. I received a tip from one of the students at Beacon that standard classes have been cancelled and more combat based sessions are underway.

James- He's preparing the kids for war.

Agent- It seems that way, sir. That's all I have to report, I'm sorry.

James- No. This is good news. Thank you, agent. Good luck and gods bless.

He leaves the call, and you sit back with a sigh.

Cole- He wants to bring Menagerie into the war? What does he gain out of that?

James- Faunus are deadly soldiers when trained properly. They don't need night vision tech, nor surveillance equipment with the right trait. He's going to assemble a special attack force to counter our advanced technology.

Qrow- Well then we gotta send emissaries of our own. Get to the kingdoms before Ozpin does.

James- Yes. We do. I need to appoint some, then.

He glances up at you.

James- How do you feel about heading to Menagerie, Cole?

Cole- W-what? I'm human, sir.

James- I know. But you're young. And have a good head on your shoulders. I'd be sure to appoint my finest team to act as your escort.

Cole- Why Menagerie and not the other kingdoms?

James- Menagerie is the only one without a huntsman academy. Vacuo's and Mistral's headmasters are old friends with Ozpin and myself. It's better if I send someone with my own word to them.

Glynda- It seems dangerous.

James- I have faith that the head of Menagerie is a sensible leader and will be honourable.

Cole- I just hope this doesn't turn sideways like Vale did.

James- This will be safer, I trust. Are you willing to do it?

Sitting for a moment, before looking at Penny and smiling.

Cole- What do you think, Penny?

Penny- I believe it is logical to send you to Menagerie, Cole! You are kind and smart and very eloquent! They will be sure to listen to you.

Cole- Okay, that's good. Alright, James. I'll do it. But after this, can I go back to the Seventh Dawn?

James- Of course. This is the last mission I'll ask of you.

Cole- Good. Let's do it, then.
