"Mari," I called my daughter as I approached her, holding her small hand; she was wearing an oxygen mask to help her breathe. But Mari cried more seeing me.

Aydan immediately came to her to check.

"How was she?" He asked.

"She's having an asthma attack, Doc. But we already gave her a shot of Albuterol," Joem answered. "We are just waiting until she stables."

"I can't breathe, mummy," she cried more.

"Hush, baby. Stop crying na, okay? Mommy's here already," tahan ko sa kanya.

I wiped her tears and kissed her forehead. "Mommy will help you breathe, okay?" I said then turned to my parents.

"What happened, mom?" I asked.

My mother shook her head as she cries as well. "Nanood lang siya ng cartoons sa TV tapos bigla umiyak na. Sabi niya 'di siya makahinga kaya dinala na namin agad dito ng Daddy mo," Mom answered.

I sighed and turned to Mari again.

"Mummy," she called again.

"Mommy's here baby. You'll be fine," I said as my eyes caught Aydan who was still talking to Shane and Joem, instructing them.

Aydan nodded. "Call on for Dra. Ocampos. Inform her about the patient," he said.

Dra. Ocampos, she's one of the hospital's pediatricians who's also an allergist.

"Dra. Ocampos? Why?" I can't help but ask.

Aydan turned to me. "We need her checked; to know where her asthma is coming from." He answered.

"It's hereditary..." I said and he was taken aback immediately. "She was already examined... She started having an allergy when she was six months old until it turned to asthma. And her doctor said her asthma was inherited since there's a family history." I added.

I wished I could say that Mari inherited his mother's condition; that his daughter took so much from them. From the way she looks-Mari looks more like her father than me-until to this condition.

"Nurse Joem..." He called Joem after hearing what I said.

"Yes, Doc?"

He took a deep breath. "Call for Doctor Anasco, instead," he ordered and my eyes widened.

Doctor Anasco is his mother's specialist!

"Tell him that my daughter is here and she needs him," Aydan said seriously.

My mouth parted and so did my parents', Joem's, and Shane's although she already heard our conversation.

"Uh... Yes, Doc." Joem answered after a while. He immediately ran to the nurse station to call Dr. Anasco.

And not too long, Doctor Anasco came. They ran some tests to Mari after talking to her doctor at Joanne's hospital, and through that, Aydan was there. He stayed beside me as I comforted our daughter.

"She's sleeping now," I said as I closed the door of Mari's hospital room.

Aydan nodded. "You didn't tell me about her condition," he said.

He stayed outside Mari's room after she was brought here. He was the one who talked to Doctor Anasco about Mari's medication.

"How could I tell you when you clearly stated that you don't want her?" I spat.

Aydan took a deep sigh and said, "Amara, I still have the right to know!"

He was breathing heavily and his face, down to his neck, was red. He's mad.
