Aydan did not clearly say he wanted Mari, but seeing his actions: him trying to fight his fears. makes me hope that somehow, when he saw Mari at the emergency room that day changed his mind.
"No." I immediately said, shaking my head to him.
It was the second day since Mari got out of the hospital and as per Aydan's words, we were here at the mall to reward Mari for being a good girl in her whole week stay in the hospital. And thinking of what would happen today. I immediately agreed with him.
In my head, this was a good chance for Mari and Aydan to bond and I'm hoping that after this day. Aydan's opinion about Mari will finally change.
"But this looks nice. See, she likes it," he answered. insisting on buying that remote control car
Still, I shook my head. "Aydan, your child is a girl Why would you buy your daughter a toy that is designed for boys?"
"But she likes it."
I arched my brow. "I told you. No fancy things for her."
"But I can provide her with anything... everything." he insisted.
I rolled my eyes this time. "You know what your daughter needs the most, Aydan. lyon ang gusto kung ibigay mo sa kanya, hindi ang kahit anong materyal na gamit." I said and that made him shut-up.
"Let's just buy her coloring books..." said, leaning to pinch my daughter's cheek. "You like that more, right baby?"
Agad namang tumango ang anak ko, nakangisi pa. Binalingan ko ulit si Aydan. "See? She likes art." I told him.
Aydan nodded and said, "Just like you."
I smiled. "Yeah. Just like me," said.
I used to like art. I used to like painting and photography and he used to be my favorite subject. But things changed. no longer have interest in things that used to be my passion. Since Mari came, all of my interests and attention goes to her. She becomes the center of my everything and I think I like my new passion more.
Mari, she's the passion I don't think will ever lose interest with.
Aydan carried Mari from the remote control car and my daughter immediately wrapped her arms around Aydan's shoulders. smiled seeing them this close: how comfortable Mari is to her father.
My heart feels warm from the view of them together.
"You know what? Let's just eat first. Hindi na yan makakakain mamaya kung uunahin natin ang pagbili ng books nya." I said on our way outside the toy store.
Aydan nodded. "I think we should," he agreed, reaching for my hand to hold and pulling me closer to him and Mari. "Where do you want to eat, Mari?"
He asked Mari and our daughter immediately turned to me, pouting her lips.
I smiled at her. "Daddy is asking, baby. Where do you want to eat?" I asked her and confusion showed in her face at the same time felt Aydan stiffened from my words.
We haven't really introduced him to Mari as her father and this is the first time have addressed him as his daughter's father. But think it's about time to take a small step.
