"No," I heard Aydan say. I turned to see what he was doing only to see him with Mari and Kai--Caius and Jordyn's son.
Mari was seated on Aydan's lap while Kai was standing beside them.
I saw how Kai's lips pouted when Aydan shook his head again. Mari pouted as well. She probably wants to play too but her dad will not allow her.
"We will just play, nong-nong." Kai told Aydan but he shook his head once again.
"Mari can't run around like you do. She can't play those games you play," Aydan told Kai.
"Why can't she? Can't she walk?"
Aydan laughed at Kai's innocence. "No. She can walk, of course. You saw her walk earlier, right?"
"Then why can't she run like us?" Kai insisted and before Aydan could tell anything to Kai, stepped in.
"Kai..." I called the kid. "Mari has asthma. She can't run around like you do because she gets really tired, she will have a hard time breathing," I explained to him.
Brows creased, Kai turned to Aydan. "What is asthma, nong-nong?"
"It is a condition that causes someone to have shortness in breathing so they can't do anything that will exhaust them. They can't also have a pet that has fur because fur can trigger their asthma." Aydan explained.
"She's sick," Kai said, frowning.
Aydan smiled and messed up the kid's hair. "Nope. Mari isn't sick. She just can't do everything that you can do now. But soon, hopefully, her asthma will be gone so she can play anytime with you."
"Asthma can be gone?"
"Yes," it was me who answered. "Mari just needs to be always healthier so her asthma will disappear when she grows up."
"I hope she grows up fast so her asthma disappears already. I want to play with her!" Kai said.
"You can play with Orrin though," Aydan said.
Kai shook his head. "He's playing with Kenzie. They have their own world and they don't want to include me."
Aydan arched his brow. "Is that why you're bugging Mari?"
"Nope, nong-nong. I want to play with her because I like her!"
I laughed at him while Aydan suddenly had an unfathomable smirk on his face.
"What's happening here?" Caius came and Kai immediately raised his arms to his father, wanting to be carried. Caius did.
"Magiging mag balae pa ata tayo sa hinaharap," I joked and Aydan immediately scoffed.
"Why?"
Aydan tsk-ed. "Iyang anak mo, panay ang aya dito sa anak ko. Gusto niya raw kaya niya inaaya maglaro," sagot niya, umirap pa.
Nangingiti na lamang ako sa tabi niya.
Caius arched his brow. "Is that true, Kai? You like Mari?" He asked his son.
Kai, being so innocent, nodded at his father. "She's a new friend, daddy. I like her!"
I giggled. Happy to hear someone say that they like my daughter.
"Stop laughing, love. This isn't even funny. Our Mari is still a baby to be courted," Aydan told me, making me giggle some more.
"Who's courting who?" Jordyn came. Kasunod na nito ang iba pa.
"Our son, baby. Kairus said she likes Amaris." Caius answered his wife.
Jordyn's eyes widened. "Really, baby? You're courting Mari?"
